Does anyone remember when the half of West Stand towards the Away end was last used in anger? I'm. guessing it must have been when someone like Leeds were the visitors but I can't remember what season.

Last time I remember it being used was when they gave the away end over to Reds fans and put the 100 or so Yeovil fans in there. That was over 10 years ago I think.

Yes that was our relegation season 13/14.

Before it was probably given to Sheffield Wednesday, Newcastle, & Leeds in previous seasons. Might be wrong but pretty sure Leicester had it on the last home game of 06/07 I seem to remember Ian Holloway running down the touchline celebrating with them when they scored.

And obviously the cup tie against Chelsea it was packed out with home fans, but not against Man Utd in the EFL cup when Owen scored.

We opened a couple of blocks of it for the Walsall play off game I think, but not all of it

Can't be structurally unsound because it's a mirror image of the other side. If it's lack of facilities surely they can put some portaloos and food kiosks round the back.

The space where the toilet facilities etc should be has had a building built there so is there even room to install portaloos while keeping the required amount of space for safely allowing fans to congregate? If it was so simple I'd have imagined they'd have brought in portaloos whenever we've sold out rather than limiting the attendance. Must be a lot more to opening the stand for big games because no company would turn customers away instead of just bringing in a few portaloos.

Not been round that side in donkeys years but from what I remember, there was more room round the back on the north side than the south side. Those media builds must be a lot bigger than I was thinking.

None of it really makes sense to me. You're right that it's a bigger area so why did they decide to build the media centre right slap bang where the toilets are and didn't bother to replace them?

The team changing rooms etc used to be there so surely plumbing/sewage etc must be in place. Electrics too?

    There’s a few reasons -

    1) Media facility replaced the bogs*
    2) No food kiosk in that area.
    3) The Upper part nearest the North Stand has been altered to provide facilities for the press now.**

    * Media facility went there, as all the media are in that area already, and we were severely lacking in press facilities.

** If the stand was reopened in full, the lower tier would be fine, but block A of the Upper would still off-limits due to this setup. Completely normal to have a press area like this btw.

It’s also worth noting, that on Matchdays, Upper Blocks E, D & C are always open. C tends to be more club guests etc, but still open to general public. Block B has been partially opened in the past as well. So really, it’s flexible upon demand. It’s only the lower tier at that side that is proper shut.
