Or, We are currently hunting down second, as we were last year, and it could end like last year if we get the stuffing knocked out of us with an Ipswich style result. Again.
In reality we're a lot closer this season. Last time it would have taken a miracle to catch either of the top two; this time it's in our own hands.
Not sure it’s quite in our own hands just yet, is it? I think mathematically speaking it could be tomorrow like, if Derby didn’t win. I could be wrong.
Depends if you consider goal difference within our own hands. If we win our game in hand then we'd have a maximum of 4 goals to make up over the next twelve games. Since that's entirely down to how we play then I'd say it is.
Really fancy both Wigan and Charlton to pick up points tomorrow just a sneaking suspicion. I don't see an ipswich style result from last season happening the top 2 last season were relentless and I don't think there's anybody this season remotely of the same quality.
Realistically, we need 9 wins/27 points to guarantee the top 2 from the last 13 games. We could do it with fewer - the least over the last few seasons that would have made the top 2 was 81 - but its unlikely. Its also unlikely we'd need as many as the 96 Wednesday got last year. Have we got what it takes to win 9 of these games?
I think it's technically in our hands now. If we win every game then we have 102 points. Because Portsmouth, Bolton and derby all have each other to play only one team at a time can get 102 or 103 points I think
I'd not factored in Portsmouth but yes. We win all our games Bolton win all their games except against us Portsmouth win all their games except against Bolton and us Or We win all our games Derby win all their games Portsmouth win all their games except against Derby and us Even with goal difference that'd mean we'd be top 2.
I disagree. Derby were not poor. Saturday was the best game of football we've seen at Oakwell this season, with both teams going at it. We defended manfully, because Derby's only threat came from corners, not open play.
agreed-for the first time I wasn't moaning that we can't manage a game when we go in front-long may it continue
No easy games at this level most clubs will have summat to play for and teams at the bottom end of the table regularly start turning over teams at the top end this time of year. Think we'll need 95pts for auto
