Agree. His ‘here for the long haul’ declaration will come back to bite him. It’d be indifference from me. Did a great job but the way he grabbed the first chance to leave left a sour taste.
It shouldn’t be nice. “I’m not a fly by night” “I don’t want to be here 5 minutes” and even worse said after the play off final “I have nothing in my mind but licking our wounds and going again” Deserves a bad reception as far as I’m concerned. Jumped ship and lied to us
I’m kinda neutral on it tbh. I’m not the type of person that will stand there and give him stick. I’m a grown man and I’ve moved on. But I expect others will give him hammer, and I understand why.
Didn't bother me. Took it with a pinch of salt to be honest, a bit like players kissing the badge. I know full well that if a better offer comes along they'll be off whether they've professed loyalty or not. All my heroes left Barnsley for other clubs- McCarthy, Mick Butler, Glavin, Ward, De Zeeuw, Redfearn, Hammill, Howard, Danny Wilson etc so I never expect any different
Bad probably for all the lies mentioned in thus thread. Should have been like Big Val who gave no assurances when we lost in the play offs under him.
There was just absolutely no reason for him to lie though. Just say all the other generic crap managers and players doo about cant wait to get started and do best they can etc etc etc.
He's turning into the new Alan Curbishley. The bloke who used to get touted for every vacancy that came up but never got it. Huddersfield, Port Vale, Oxford, Cambridge, York. Maybe he's waiting for the Watford gig for a couple of months, everyone else has had it.
I’m petty enough to get a ticket in the west stand lower so I could give him some banter - nothing too bad, just a bit of light joshing.
I don't really get it. If someone asked me to comment on my employment of course I'd say I'm in it for the long haul, fully committed etc. but I'd be off like a shot if someone offers me multiples of my wage, and so would those hammering him.
