Just pursuing something we were discussing on the drive back to Brontecestershire after setdi's game; why don't we have a song? Like Sheff Utd's 'greasy chip butty', Forest's 'Mull Of Kintyre', Wolves 'hi-ho....' (I know Wendy do that too, but they're irrelevant), Liverpool YNWA, West Ham's bubbles etc etc.. I get that we've tried with the Hey Jude thing, but we're one of many, many clubs that do that. Anyway, the chauffeur turned, opened the partition and suggested Civic Green's 'My Love, My Town'. I'd not heard it, so checked out the video; ....and the lyrics to the chorus bit; 'Cos this is My love, my town Can't beat this feeling I've found It's alive, it's a treasure It's the pride that keeps us together This is my love, my town Makes up for when I feel down It's alive, it's a treasure It's the fight that keeps us together' Absolutely bob-on for me. Imagine the ground all singing that! C'mon Eyup & Down, Granty, whoever. Unique and 100% tarn. Brings a tear to thi eye.....
Decent song. Decent lyrics. I've heard it played at Oakwell a few times I'm pretty sure. Maybe at the end of games? Be good to get a song of our own going ! @DJ Fatty Boy @granty the red
Arsenal have incorporated a new club theme song in last few years, the whole ground now sing it. So it can be done.
It's horrid though! As regards ours, I think it would need to be played every match in place of Hey Jude to get people singing it if we want to adopt it as our song. And I agree, it would be nice to have one unique to us.
I think you do us a disservice; we had no problem with 'valley of death' or 'you're gonna get your fu¢king heads kicked in' back in the day. They were both fast-paced. Or just sing it at 33rpm
All those other clubs' fans manage theirs okay. If the Ponty's really struggling, just split the chorus in half and sing that. It's pretty much the same thing twice.
I've often wondered if we could end up somehow with a song that's "ours". Short of the one we do have with no lyrics I didn't think we could. So this definitely gets a thumbs up from me. It's catchy, and is almost written for us. I'd even advocate for the first time ever, to replace timerider with this to walk out to. And I say that as a fierce defender of timerider...
It was almost written for us! They already had written a song about the town, and I think the club invited them down and collaborated with them on the video and the lyrics. Seem to remember Whitey banging on it about it on his Facebook before the season started. Not sure if they've given up on it because it didn't get much traction but think @YTBFC was trying to push it previously.
