Its a haze really. Remember being intrigued by diesels and my Dad saying, " theres enough diesels let's look at some proper trains".
I’ve recently taken a 3 and a 5 yr old, as others have said, big redevelopment going on, but you can’t argue for free. There’s an area to play in for youngsters within the main hall as well. Was a little disappointed that the signalling/viewing platform was closed at the same time as the second hall though.
Glad you posted that (thought I'd lost it) as last time I went I took the footbridge, opposite of the direction to the station entrance. As you clear the final platform you can see the NRM and it's no more than a couple of hundred yards to it.....
100% yes the museum is OK for eating ,however little train ride from the museum into the city and plenty of nice places next to the river. There's a place where there is a little beach for little kiddies and good eating place too. Took the grandson there
Plenty of places to eat in York *but* it gets very busy on a weekend so could be a little intimidating for a young kid. Keep a close eye on them and you'd be fine. He'll probably love walking on the walls too...
