Great orator, probably one of the best in the last 50 years or so, if that's your thing. He makes it easy to agree with his views on subjects like Iraq and Palestine, but you know he's got an agenda and he's dodgy as fck. A useful idiot though at moments like these. Will be interesting to see how this plays out come the general election. Will it just be a blip, or will it set the tone and will we see Labour shedding votes, maybe the odd seat if people stand against Labour? They deserve it to be honest. The party stands for absolutely nothing on the vast majority of issues.
What's the alternative? Seriously, what is the alternative? More years of Tories robbing the country and looking after themselves and their mates, destroying the NHS and degrading all our infrastructure? I don't have a great deal of trust for Labour (I'm a Green) but there is literally NO real alternative with our electoral system.
I heard the final damning piece of information about Galloway which should turn all right-thinking people against him, he's a Man U fan. @arabian_ian which team did he support as a kid?
He was a United fan but obviously that wasn’t cool enough to help give him a bigger audience. Now supports Celtic. No doubt because they fly the Palestine flag. Again using others to help promote himself.
I'm sure they will win by a country mile, but the fact you're asking what the alternative is says all we need to know about the state of British politics.
So, in an ideal world where we COULD vote with our conscience and beliefs, who would you vote for? Serious question with no hidden agenda by the way. I'm happy to nail my colours to the Green party's mast.
Even under the bent UK system you have to hope for something different, something better. My hope would be Labour fail to get an overall majority so they have to get into a coalition. That coalition could be a progressive group of centre/centre left parties (SNP/Greens/Plaid/Lib Dems). Even with Labour being a right wing party - such a coalition, I would hope, would drag Labour back towards the centre - more so if Starmer hasn't yet had time to purge all the Socialists and Social Democrats from the Labour Party. An added bonus of this group would be an independence vote in Scotland. I am fully aware of the danger of Labour being the biggest party but having no overall majority would create the danger of them considering the Tories as a more natural party for them to go into coalition with. That's certainly the case. But it's a risk worth taking.
More than 100,000 civilians were killed in the Iraq war alone(an illegal war). Have you got numbers to suggest otherwise?.
1-2m were killed in the Iran-Iraq war - mostly on the Iranian side. That was also a war with various war crimes IIRC. Libya had a few wars but not many were killed in them. Not sure how many of his own citizens Ghaddafi killed off - but it was probably fewer than the Italians did in the Eastern Libyan genocide - and the invasion of Libya was in 2011, so under Cameron.
He’s definitely self serving but he was still a huge supporter of Palestine when he was a Labour MP with a big majority many years ago
"Shortly after the success of the revolution, revolutionary leader Ruhollah Khomeini began calling for Islamic revolutions across the Muslim world, including Iran’s Arab neighbor Iraq, the one large state besides Iran in the Gulf with a Shia Muslim majority population. The war began with Iraq’s invasion of Iran in an attempt by Iraq’s dictator Saddam Hussein to take advantage of the perceived post-revolutionary chaos and military weakness, as well as the Revolution’s unpopularity with Western governments. The Iraqis used weapons of mass destruction, most notably mustard gas, against Iranian soldiers. Although the forces of Saddam Hussein made several early advances, by mid-1982 Iranian forces successfully managed to drive the Iraqi army back into Iraq. In July 1982, with Iraq thrown on the defensive, Iran invaded Iraq and conducted countless offensives in a bid to conquer territory and capture cities, such as Basra. The war continued until 1988 when the Iraqi army defeated the Iranian forces inside Iraq and pushed the remaining Iranian troops back across the border. Subsequently, Khomeini accepted a truce mediated by the UN. An estimated 200,000-240,000 Iranians and 105,000–200,000 Iraqis were killed during the war." - From The History of Western Civilisation You can post your own source and then I might be prepared to call it a draw.
The U.S. post-9/11 wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, and Pakistan have taken a tremendous human toll on those countries. As of September 2021, an estimated 432,093 civilians in these countries have died violent deaths as a result of the wars. And that's just civillains ok it's including other wars but the most will be Iraq and afgan. How ever you try dress it up invading was the wrong thing to do and Blair and Bush should have been held for that. Putins killing loads of innocent civillans but were not invading Russia.and trying to get him out.
They'll.certainly need it. The man is a liability. Labour/Starmer withdrew their candidate because of comments made. George will allus be an enigma. He fought on one subject. The Palestine/Israel conflict. Will be unlikely to win at the next general election. So 9/10 months at the most. His next project will.be interesting. Not.
Any fekker that would beat the tories or right wing parties. Labour at heart. but would be a tactical voter. In that case.
