Some awesome albums mentioned here already which would be well up there on my list. How to even pick a favourite Beatles album? Plenty of people going for Rubber Soul, Revolver and Abbey Road but nobody has gone for Sergeant Pepper or the White Album. Personally I can't separate them. Albums not mentioned already that I find myself returning to regularly, or return to less often but I'm always blown away by them when I do, include: Leftfield - Leftism REM - could be any of their albums depending on my mood, but New Adventures in Hi-Fi probably shades it. Just. The Decemberists - The King is Dead Pet Shop Boys - Please / Actually Dexys - Searching for the Young Soul Rebels Hybrid - Wide Angle Carter USM - The Love Album Radiohead - The Bends Belly - King Blur - Modern Life is Rubbish Marina - The Family Jewels Zemfira - Zemfira Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia Velvet Underground & Nico Air - Moon Safari Suede - Dog Man Star Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible Rush - Moving Pictures Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water Les Rythmes Digitales - Darkdancer And then there's the artists whose albums I've not listened to that much but I often put on shuffle on Spotify or listen to compilations. Elton John Dolly Parton Abba Suzanne Vega Elvis Presley Bowie Depeche Mode Motown and Northern Soul compilations aplenty. Ditto early 80's synth and New Wave. This is all just off the top of my head. I'm sure there's absolutely loads I've missed off.
Tindersticks' first album, as much now because of the impact it had on me at the time and my memories of it as of the album itself.
You know they're touring with The Postal Service in the summer and performing Transatlanticism to mark its 20th Anniversary? Tickets still available.
It's a brilliant album but not one for every day. Makes Automatic for the People sound light and uplifting!
Yeah, nowhere nearby though seen them quite a few times so not overly disappointed. Hoping they might add a Manchester date.
Have you bought the Reissue of The Love album. It s really well done with some great extra tracks and live stuff. I’d very much recommend.
Have you heard David Boulters spoken word album Lovers Walk? Now that’s somber. I can barely listen to it.
No, cheers for the heads up. Will definitely check it out. Never went to see Carter live as their concerts were reported to be extremely hazardous! Really wish I had. One of my favourite ever cover versions.
Like a few on here I'm a 70's into 80's lad. picked Snowgoose by Camel as ah thowt it was a one obscure album choice...my no1 go to is Ziggy or owt Bowie... Prog rock fan so...... Genesis Yes Floyd King Crimson Wishbone Ash..etc, but could go from Erasure to Oasis wi no problem... BTW Hooky, Billy Joel ...NOOOO Let your lass do music for bus trips P... Billy Joel could spoil an away win at Hillsborough.... Edit...Just read ya film list P..movie night at yours would be spot on....lol
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik & By the way, both fantastic albums. Californication is fantastic too, but the mixing & mastering is atrocious, a victim of the loudness war at the time. Tears For Fears - The seeds of love Rumours, obviously The 1975 - Self Titled & their latest offering Being funny in a foreign language. Something a bit more left field, Anathema - Weather Systems Dream Theater - Scenes from a memory
Some of the best times of my life we are Carter concerts and Jon Beast (RIP) was very entertaining. Such great bouncy fun.
I tend to listen to the instrumental version as I find it just too much. Yarmouth is one of my favourite recent albums as well shows a deftness of touch
