Heckys was played 13 won 1 drawn 2... away wins 0 clean sheets 0. To he fair hecky was probably glad to get sacked a sinking ship.
I don’t get how Sheff Utd & Burnley thought they could outplay proven premier league sides. They’ve got no one who can even put a tackle in. Sheff Utd’s midfield is powder puff. Just a bunch of decent in possession championship players. How can Norwood be your defensive midfielder? They should’ve got in a big lad up top & a couple of combative midfielders. It’s like they want to be Man City. Look at Brentford & Luton. They get about teams. They sign tall players who are useful in both boxes. They should be making every game a battle. They get a week to prepare for most games with no European football.
Not sure why Hecky needs bringing into it. The current incumbent is doing a wonderful job of totally humiliating his beloved blades. To be fair Prince Abdullah has made it extremely difficult if not impossible for both managers by barely spending a penny. This season was always going to be a car crash for Sheffield United. Wilder will be gone at the end of the season IMO. He's supposedly mended his friendship with Prince Abdullah, yeah right. Wilder's reputation is quickly going downhill and a growing number of Sheffield United fans don't want him there.
They made it too easy for Arsenal by not trying to get the ball. They kept backing off until Arsenal decided to shoot.
so played more games not less. Any instances of losing by 5 in three consecutive home games? But at least now we know that any manager would not be able to keep a club up that sold its best 2 players on the eve of the season and in PL terms spent nothing. I’m sure Paul accepts your apology.
That’s your prerogative mate, but to me supporting your team is like marriage. The vow that says “For better or worse.” I suspect you may be looking for a divorce.
That was the exact point that folk were trying to make at the start of the season when Hecky got all the grief. They'd sold their best two players and not replaced them, and the core of the side was the same that was relegated last time, but now they were all 2 years older. Yet it was Heckys fault they were bottom apparently, when anyone with half a brain could see it was a hopeless situation and that whoever was in charge would have an impossible task.
But he did gain more points in less games although now he's had more games in charge of sheffield united. They were miles adrift of Burnley when he left now are on the same points. I'm sure Paul Heckingbottom doesn't care what my opinion is on his time as a football manager.
A reminder that Ipswich are currently in 2nd and are almost guaranteed at least a play-off spot - now 20pts clear of Norwich in 7th. Sheff Utd are absolute tosh this season - and could still not finish bottom.
Hecky wasn’t given, even a scintilla, of a chance this season. No manager on earth could have kept them up. Rubbish squad made even worse by the owner, with hardly any notable incomings. Having said that, Burnley have spent an absolute fortune and been equally as dogger
Simon Jordan got it right on talk sport this morning they had a net spend of over 30million when including outgoings and incomings. That wasn't enough to keep them up but they have been getting hammered all season Newcastle put 8 past them at Bramhall Lane, Burnley 5 at turf Moor. Luton haven't spent much but they made a much better fight of it. They shouldn't have been getting humiliated all season like they have.
Luton’s squad cost less, but far younger and fitter (if you take out Townsend et al). Sheff united has aged squad and they took the best Laikers out
I only hate Sheffield Wednesday. The gulf between divisions is ridiculous. Sheffield Utd though did not give Hecky a chance & Wilder has probably done worse TBH.
