We did this against Peterborough and my arse fell out. The BBS lambasted me and I scooped it up and put it back in. Scoop your arses up and put them back in. Nowts been won today but nowts been lost either. (As an aside we might want to address why our matches continue 20 mins past the actual finishing time).
Nothing I said isn’t true, we were poor tonight in the way we tried to manage the game after going 2-0 up, we didn’t take advantage. Bolton are a promotion rival, if we have aspirations of automatic promotion we need to beat these teams, mainly because we were so poor during the first half of the season, at home against the top half teams. That’s our own fault, mainly because our defence wasn’t fit for purpose thanks to poor signings in the close season. It’s no surprise we look a lot better since the transfer window with proper signings instead of non league gambles. You’re right though, we do look a play off team, & that’s where I believe we’ll end up. Hopefully this defence gets settled otherwise I can’t see us winning them.
Was it though? They went 2-1 up tails up and we take macatee off for a midfielder giving us less outlet. Kept clearing the ball straight to them defending deep.
Imho Bolton were great second half...they had to chase the game down two.....and they did. They played their footy and deserved at least a point. I believe if that match is 10 minutes longer they win. Santos at the back was very good and so was Sheehan in centre mid. We were proper hanging on for 20 mins there.... but I'm proud of they way we pressed and challenged ...great game...great atmos.....good point.
They said the ref was legit a Sheffield Wednesday fan lol.. Horrible way to get a tie we did choke sort of but there were so many times at 2-1 I thought we were lucky to be leading so you know.. Is what it is. We move on.
I don't disagree he needed to come off the needless one with the quick free kick cost us a goal. But bring Cosgrove or even Marsh on try play football like the 1st half. Not a midfielder to defend deeper and deeper.
Tbf I think we did keep playing at 2-0 then we went to pieces after that Mcatee foul, he was still moaning about it and all the others just switched off. After that it was stupid just lumping it forward to come back. Probably a fair result in the end but I still think we were unlucky late in the game , if the obvious push on Cosgrove had been given we would have been at the other end, I think their bloke was looking for the penalty and then our lot just stood watching at the rebound was criminal!
Annoying but not the end of the world, is my judgment. Not losing was the aim, if we're looking for top two.
I do get that they were probably the better team. But were it not for a minor indiscretion we’d have won. The problem is the first month of the season, not now.
If we win our game in hand we go level on points with 2nd. Perspective is needed here by some. Terrible game management by Collins in the second half though.
The end result was disappointing after looking decent at 2-0 up. A draw looked a fair result but our inability to retain the ball in the last 20 mins cost us dearly. We regroup and go on to the next game, Lincoln is a must win for me.
Equaliser was coming we just sat so deep trying to manage the game out at 2-0 and invited them to have a go. Conceded 2 poor goals tonight and once again they targeted our left side as they did 4 weeks ago, resulting eventually in the 1st goal tonight coming down that side and the goal at their place. Disappointing, 2 points dropped but not a disaster, can fault the effort we looked dead on our feet at the end.
In the morning I think we willl say fair dos. Second half they were the better side by some way and our midfield was outfought and outthought. Disappointing I know but the aim was not to lose with the game in hand next week against Carlisle.
What p:sses me off more than anything is that we may well have to play Bolton yet again and we have totally handed them the initiative.
