…now becoming a massive worry, we don’t have it in us at the minute to keep one. The last clean sheet was in January at Oxford? The poorer sides are coming to Oakwell and scoring, away from home were constantly conceding. The defence has been improved with 2 new signings, does McCart come back into the back line? Pines worries me with how rash he is at times… I suggested a while back to have McCart in at LCB and Earl at full-back as Cadden’s lack of pace is catching us out down that left-hand side, that idea got slammed by the majority on here….
You're saying Caddens lack of pace is catching us out so we should play a slower player there instead? What?
Earl is our best centre back so he shouldn’t be moving any position. We do need a clean sheet or 2 though.
That is where we'll have to agree to disagree. But other than that why move our beat performing centre back out of position and into a position he's said in an interview he hopes he doesn't play too often?
Your idea got slammed even by the player in question during an interview when he signed. So I wouldn't be posting "told you so" posts - especially with the amount of bilge you spewed throughout the season.
Earl got roasted in that left wing back position for pace when countered on a couple of times. He isn't slow, but certainly no faster than Cadden.
Thought pines played well last night won everything in the air. Only him and Roberts came out of that 2nd half with any credit for me. But the clean sheets are a worry especially now we have moved j.williams to his natural position and brought in pines and Earl.
We’re playing further up the pitch & scoring more goals. If you play on the front foot more you will concede more. I’d much rather have this Barnsley team with Pines & Earl in it than the one from the first half of the season.
I remember earlier in the season we were moaning that Collins was playing boring football. We had no plan. We were negative. Boooo. Collins out. Now we're in flying form, were the top scorers in the division, and folk are moaning that were too open at the back. Incredible.
This is a very good point & im hoping with more game time the new look defence can look more settled ready for the end of season run in.
It's only a minor concern as long as we're scoring enough. A bit odd though, from the games I've seen the defence looks better since Pines arrived...
