there were. it’s the lack of consistency that I struggle with. how is that not a foul and their penalty is ! It defies logic. Especially given position of the officials in both incidents. game defining and possibly season defining ineptitude from the officials, both to our detriment. Not dissimilar to last season at Wembley.
Their first goal came from a free kick that wasn’t and the second shouldn’t have been a pen because of the blatant foul (right in front of the assistant) that wasn’t given on cosgrove
Agreed - I’m fully expecting @Cowboy to obtain an explanation from him at his cricket club this weekend.
Wouldn't mind, but it even nearly took the lino out. Summat's not reyt, it's always these important games that we seem to get dodgy decisions. Then it's all "ohh it's not the ref's fault! Ya just s***!" From opposing fans. Yeah, ok, crack on.
Not giving that as a foul is a truly amazing decision. Imo it should've been a foul and a yellow card.
Let's face it, the size of Cosgrove and the position it was in, not to mention how late it was in the game, it would have taken more than a pat on the back for him to go over. I'm damn sure he's not going to go down like that in the hope of getting a free kick when you compare it to some of the Tom Daley Specials we see these days!
For context I've shown that video to 4 people today, all who which support different clubs - Manchester city, Rotherham, Sheffield Wednesday and for reasons I'll never fully understand, Norwich - all four said that isn't a foul and it's obvious he hasn't even tried to stay up. "Look at the size of him, a little shoulder charge and he's dove 6 feet across the floor" "That's a normal challenge. Not a foul" "Is that Sam Cosgrove? He has always dove" "50/50 to me. He should be a lot stronger" And I actually showed it them saying 'look how bad the ref was, he didn't give this right in front of the linesman '
Now show them some of the fouls Bolton got awarded... particularly for their first. Clear foul on Cosgrove.
Post a video of the foul for their first and I will tomorrow. I did show them the penalty and they all said it was or probably was but that the angle isn't the best
Can't remember any complaint about the free kick for the 1st at the time. The problem was we were all out of position on the attack and the took the quick free kick.
Cosgrove didn't try to stay on his feet. He has in the past but discovered that if somebody piles into him and he doesn't fall over, they do and he concedes a free kick!
Honestly they're not. One of them is the kind who maybe would but the other three are very level headed football fans. I'm as lost as you as to why they all think that but it's their genuine opinion based on the video
Tbf they took a quick free kick and a quick throw prior, the warnings were there. Regarding Cosgrove it was a foul to me as there was no intent to play the ball whatsoever. There has been occasions I've thought IMO he's been looking for the foul rather than getting through/in and playing to the whistle with refs marking his card to a degree
I'm pissed off about that foul not being given on Cosgrove but to be honest I'm more pissed off with our defenders and how slowly they reacted to the penalty save in the next phase of play. Not a good look and Collins said the same post match.
