Please STOP making them. Today is the 5th or 6th time they have sold out well before kick off. I know nobody’s forcing me to buy one, but I have every home programme since 1954, so it’s a hard habit to break. They are not cheap anyway, they’re not very good any more and this is the 5th or 6th time I’ve had to pay £9 or £10 on eBay, to a bloke a couple of hundred miles away who’s not at the game, but managed to get one. I think I’ll go to the end of this season and call it a day. Enough is enough.
Sooooo what your saying is, the club should stop something that is popular enough to have sold out 5/6 times.. not adjust ordered amount or anything? I mean, my personal opinion is they dont really serve a purpose and the content is generally available elsewhere and interview are usually generic so are not something I purchase. I would also go along with the idea of turning it into a digital only download option, saves paper/ink etc so better for the planet and a greener option.. Not sure the argument stands though as obviously currently they must still have some popularity to sell out so must provide some commercial value.
Ignition sports media sell them online, you can get the second half of the season delivered for £65 I believe
so they do! Chris Treece mentioned it the last time I whinged and I had a look but couldn’t find it, but I’ve just checked again and found it straight away this time. Still wish they’d stop doing them though. Either that or make them more interesting. The last time they were worth reading was when Dave Wood wrote some historical articles. We could do so much more with the programme than we have done over the past few seasons.
Why don't you just stop buying it? You seem to go to some lengths to source something you don't want.
As others have pointed out much cheaper online with Ignition and usually delivered within a couple of days
Fair question. As I said, I have them all from 1954 onwards, so it’s a hard habit to break now. I do wish they’d either stop or improve the content. The way they consistently underprint them (there were loads asking for them and this was some time before kick off) suggests the club has a half-hearted approach anyway. Over the years it has only happened a few times that they have run out half an hour before the match, but over the past year it has happened lots.
What is your intention to do with em. I have em all from 1979. The year my eldest was born and avid Barnsley fan. up to around 6/7 yrs ago. Wanting to pass em on to him. Plus the other 1000 or so. Barnsley/Various. He asked me what I was going to do with em. ? Give em you son. What am i going to do with em. Was the reply. I havent bought one since lol.
You want them to STOP, in capital letters, making them because you’re not organised enough to buy one early enough before they sell out? I can understand saying the club need to print more, or stop selling if no one buys them but your solution is for people who want one (and clearly people do if they sell out every week) to no longer be able to buy one? If you want to stop buying them just do that, if you want to buy them get there earlier.
Got the 2nd half of the season programmes which I pass on to my brother whe n I've read them. Got to agree for 4 quid there's not much reading in them from halfway through the programme. Probably won't bother next season
The reason I think they should stop selling them is that they are such a low quality product. It's no better than the Barnsley today magazine that gets shoved through my letterbox every so often. Both are a few crappy articles of no value surrounded by as after ad yet the club want to charge the earth for them. Get shut, or make a better product.
