Need to win next two games, because it’s Pompey away straight after. Just put yesterday down as a freak scoreline against a team we struggle with. Haven’t beaten them at home in the league since April 73.
I think we gave ourselves the runaround We gave the ball away so many times we should have been dead and buried.
I bet Villa players / fans are feeling a bit like us today. I'm sure they haven't given up, and neither should we.
Games are won an lost, we'll bounce back its all to play for, five teams gunning for two Automatic places, win t'morra an were back in the mix big time, keep the faith, C,O,Y,R.
In a quiet moment at work yesterday, I did start looking at trains to Carlisle, then how far/long it would be to drive. I think it's the 'it couldn't get any worse than Saturday' mentality that hooks you in...
While I was mulling over the aftermath of Saturday’s defeat, I had a look at other teams’ results this season. Bolton got tonked at home in August 4-0 by Wigan and Portsmouth lost at home 3-0 to Leyton Orient. We looked jaded and well off the pace on Saturday. Not surprising after a high octane game only just over three days later. Lincoln had had the full week to rest. We’ll come back from that.
……. Posh conceded 5 at Wycombe and Pompey conceded 4 at home to Blackpool. Yeah, this was my reason for expecting a close game but a win against Lincoln. There was I saying how we’d not had a hiding and had become hard to beat - I even dared to say us and Pompey were the teams to beat, based on how few we’d lost. I’m saying nowt again!!
It happens! From memory didn’t we get pumped in then great escape season under flitcroft near the end of the season only to rally and pull ourselves back together again? I think we will be fine, it’ll go to the last day.
Win our next two and things 'll be right. Isn't it weird how prior to the Bolton game we were on the crest of a wave. Then a draw and a defeat later we're scratching our heads working out where the next win coming from. That's part and parcel of following Barnsley.
Another massive test but this in a different way. Following on from a lifeless, abject defensive display.....the reds now have to find something and without arguable our most consistent midfielder. I'm hoping we dig in and eek out a gutsy performance and come home with at least a point.
