I wanted to put him in but I think them two are probably the best in the world. The only issue with Stones is he nearly always misses a couple of months of the season through injury.
I reckon Liverpool will win this. Havent watched first 35 minutes, only last 10. But can see them getting one in second and then another very late on!
Yes completely agree in general mate. Van Dijk this season is back to his best, Dias been off it this year but been consistently brilliant since he's been there. Just love how versatile stones is though. I mean that stat that compared him to Messi just put the cherry on the top for me, haha. Perhaps I'm biased!
Not very often teams stretch city is it? Liverpool have run them to death today. Never allowed them to control the game.
I’ve said this on here before, John Stones must be a right candidate for best player we have ever produced.... brilliant footballer and he doing it at highest level, keep it up Johnboy!
It's all relative though isn't it. If you look at the net spend of Arsenal and Liverpool, it's miles off what City do. Liverpools back four included Bradley, Gomez and Quansah today.
I read a about a year ago that since 2016 City had spent £1bn on players, Liverpool were at c.£750m. In the grand scheme, not that huge of a difference, they're still spending fortunes. Liverpool do a lot better in the net spend stakes, but there's no doubt they regularly pay big transfers.
Depends how far you look back. Last five years there's probably not that much in it. Liverpool dined out on the 'net spend' title mainly because of the sale of Coutinho - that was back in 2018. Arsenal are probably on par with City with how much they've spent in recent years on White, Partey, Jesus, Havertz, White, etc.
One thing Liverpool have done well at under Klopp is getting big fees for their academy kids. Ibe, Stewart, Solanke, Williams etc. When they’ve spent big they’ve tended to get it right too. Van Dijk, Allison, Konate, Salah, Diaz, Nunez etc.
Superb game 2 amazing teams x thought t was a pen in injury time. Kicking someone in gut anywhere on pitch is always a foul but today oliver and var think its a fair challenge.
Clear pen for me too. They’re getting shafted by officiating this season. The wrong VAR call in their away game at Spurs. Odegaard getting away with handball in his own box at Anfield & then that today.
