Not many do in this league. We've got players like Cundy, Wolfe, Benson who would be in squads in this league. Benson & Cundy will be on decent money too. Unfortunately, they're either not fit or fancied. Watters not even making the bench, either.

None of those have been in contention for a place in the team this season? ‍♂️

Exactly my point, bud. We still have these players, still paying them, and we've lost even more money. We need to utilise them where possible and then hopefully move them along and replace with better signings.

At first that sounds logical until you think about it a little bit more. By getting booked he's guaranteed to miss Carlisle and Cheltenham, had he not apparently deliberately got himself booked today he could have sat out the Carlisle game and played the Cheltenham game with no threat of suspension. Essentially getting booked today doubled the amount of games he misses with no benefit

Unless someone spelt it out for him, there's no way Herbie Kane would have figured that one out on his own. Never struck me as the brightest.

He wasn't alone at been awful in that midfield. Him and connell were poor today. But I think like said other week connell could score a own goal, concede a pen then get sent off and still some would see him as motm.

Thought he was decent early on, last 20 mins of first half he was brilliant. Second half, especially after we went 2/3 down is a different story though. I understand he's trying to make things happen and taking risks, but there were some real poor bits of play from him.

I’m a big fan of his & think he’s been our best player this season but I have to say he was terrible yesterday.

Although we were pretty dire without him which seems to be a regular occurrence on the rare occasion he misses a game

Been taking a little bit of stick on X, formerly known as Twitter, has ol Herbie and he’s “liking” some of the tweets too. Like rewinding back to when he gave that interview in a way.

He’s been really good for us this season, certainly one of our better players and I think we will miss him the next 2 games.

I’ll be stunned if he’s still here next season, whatever league we are playing in.

The booking was pre-arranged and it was agreed to take him off early so that he could make a flight from Manchester to Turkey for a week’s holiday hence he was straight down the tunnel to pick up his suitcase.

I think that was his 11th since his previous. Out for 2 but Back for Pompey which will be a boost.

I read posts like this and it confirms some posters on here, only se3 what they want to see. If you think Kane’s ‘been avoiding tackles for 8 or 9 games’ hasn’t he had some mom performances in those games?

I didn’t mean it in that context. He’s done really well to avoid a booking for the last 8 or 9 games is what I meant in reply to someone mentioning 3 games. There’s no doubt in my mind that he has understandably avoided a few 50/50s in that time but I can’t knock the way he’s played at all. He’s been excellent apart from yesterday (like everyone else)…..

Not for me - bit lightweight, but great option off the bench.
Can see Collins going with Russell as the holding mid & move Connell further up.
Russell was clear Player of the Match at Oxford & no reason why he can't do the job again tomorrow.

Connell and Phillips in midfield for me. McAtee in the gap, Cole and Cosgrove up front
