We must have ventured up there once or twice considering we had 18 shots? I don't recall us shooting from our own half much, despite cries from the fans everytime we get the ball 60 yards from goal.
We did , but it was painfully slow at times. Shout out to Earl who at least was trying to launch the ball forwards.
It wasn't brilliant. Dreadful is a bit strong though, on another day we win that game comfortably. Though my point was, how can you accuse us of not getting in the opposition area when we've had 18 shots on goal.
That wasn't down to him though. And it wasn't every single time tbf. I feel as though there is a reluctance with our forwards sometimes to take responsibility amd that was evident second half when there was obviously more pressure to get that vital goal.
The team is poor. Period. Its ok defending them if they put graft in and show commitment and positivity both in attack and defence but far too often this season the quality of the football has been dreadful, deflating and not conducive to getting the fans behind the team. There's a lack of solidity, lack of shape and only sporadic moments where things 'click'. Its dreadful to watch and the fact that, overall, it is so dreadful does need pointing out. So, I say again, the team is poor, even though a substantial number of players played in last year's team and performed better. That is down to organisation and coaching in my book and even if one argues that the defence was weakened in the summer (which I would agree with) the argument about shape and direction still stands. Very poor, dull, uninspiring.
Sods law but in the first half when we had all the time in the world to pass the ball on the ground and create good chances we were getting Cosgrove clean through on goal but then in the second half when Cheltenham tightened up (a little bit), we got nervy and started hitting long high balls to Cole. Just one of those days I suppose.
After Cosgrove went off we never looked like winning a header personally I’d have kept him on a bit longer
We can all use statistics to argue points. I've seen enough of the team to stand by my comments. The team is poor. Whether the stats suggest that other teams are worse is a moot point. I also think, as I stated that that lack of quality and drive is a key reason why lots of fans are fed up in spite of the top 6 position. You may or may not agree with me and, as you say, the League table offers some positives but I'm sticking to what I say regarding quality and entertainment value.
