That was in response to the spunking it on wages comment. They could of course add other spending limitations to ensure the drip feed to grass roots.
Yeah, you're right. It wouldn't be so bad but I went to two games against them that season - 4-0 in the cup being the highlight...
Haven't they also voted to keep doing the disgraceful so called 'parachute payments '. The two clubs who annoy me the most here are the likes of Bournemouth & Notts Forest. Not so long ago, they were both stuck in the Efl, the Leagues that they are now giving the middle finger to!.
Basically, while those clubs were in our position they'd have been arguing they should be receiving some of this money. Now they're on the other side of the fence they'll demand to keep it all, why should they share with those beneath them?
My next door neighbour spunked his wages on the bookies at Cheltenham. Should I pay his rent to help him out?
That's an awful analogy, not least because it's clubs like Forest who are the gamblers rather than the ones further down the pyramid. A more apt analogy would be if you had remortgaged your house, put it all on red, got lucky and then moaned about having to pay taxes to provide healthcare etc. for those less fortunate when if you'd lost you'd be relying on those same contributions to survive. Proper Tory attitude to say that because they've made it (at least for now) they shouldn't contribute towards those struggling.
Forest's 4 point deduction today might make them rethink their stance a lot sooner than they thought.
When I said spunking it all in wages, I meant that a percentage of the money should be ring fenced for example to install under soil heating at all 92 clubs. To cap the maximum ticket price at games. To make sure all employees are paid the national living wage as a minimum. Those kind of things.
It makes total sense for Forest to be on the list. If/when they get relegated this would level the playing field in the championship and make it harder for them to get promoted again.
Because without the whole EFL getting more money they’ll have the advantage with parachute payments and the money they got from the premier league stint
