Wasn't it the stadium sale/new lease?

I doubt it. What exciting journey or whatever soundbite he used comes from extending the lease on the stadium and keeping a decaying stand?

They didn't present it like that though did they? They presented it as staying at Oakwell for the foreseeable future and there being significant investment into the stadium.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not but I'm 99% sure that was the "big news"

"I would urge Barnsley fans to buy your season ticket as there is some BIG and EXCITING news coming Barnsley Football club's way and I think everyone is going to want to be part of that journey"

That's his quote. I don't think that matches up at all to simply signing an extension to a lease.
For a start why would it be a reason to buy a season ticket in the first season of the new lease? And what journey?

I also don't see where they said there would be significant investment in the stadium. In fact didn't they say that stadium maintenance would come out of the lease and be cost neutral? We used to pay £100k a season rent. What big investment in the stadium is coming out of £100k a year? Well £100k minus the £1.7m initial purchase cost for the council in order to be cost neutral as they stated.

Really? What did you have in mind? Champions League? 80,000 seat stadium redevelopment? Elon Musk as new owner?

I don't disagree that he overstated it somewhat, but I'd be shocked if this wasn't it.

They specifically mention investment into the stadium as part of the press release. I'd say investment into the stadium is a valid reason to get on board with a season ticket and be part of it, but I do think he overhyped it or actually more accurately I think the fans overhyped it after his statement.

remember around 84ish, challenging for div1, flogged david geddis and then hardly anything for lord knows how long, the recent years certainly don't come under the boring category, umpteen wembley visits, decent challenge for the prem, promotions and relegations, 1 game involving virtually the last kick of the season to stay up , it's hardly been boring, frustrating at times yes

I don’t disagree, and I wouldn’t say it’s been boring at all. I just fail to see how the past few years have been exciting. Since the champ play offs it’s been a shitshow from head to toe. I just fail to see the excitement in having to rebuild year in year out because we flog half our side, spending another year in league one, the atmosphere at games etc

I can’t stand it I won’t lie, I hate league 1. I think it’s about as enjoyable as root canal. I enjoyed the Stendel season, nice little league 1 tour but I feel we’re down here for a long time under the current circumstances that we find ourselves in.

Does it make a difference? that sayings getting a bit like "they dunt want to go up".

I can't think of anything he could say besides we've been took over by Jeff Bezos that would make my mind up about renewing or not.

I was excited at Wembley until the last minute of extra time. I was brought up in a time when Wednesday was div 1 and we were div 4. We were far the better side at Wembley.
