Wasn't his best decision to give Moore such a long contract. Darren has continued his Wednesday form. Something had to give.
I'm shocked that a club thought David Flircroft was suitable for a DOF role . Fans have been questioning him for a fair while now. I wonder if all new signings were labelled as "special human beings"
Port Vale would love his Wednesday form, over a 50% win rate... they wouldn't be where they are with that!
Yeah I should have instead mentioned his 3 wins in 30 games since then. All during his 23 games at Huddersfield and still waiting for a win 8 games in to his Port Vale stint.
Yes his record is pretty crap after Wednesday mate. I really like him as well so really hoped it would work out for him, seems a great bloke. I think he's a very good man-manager but unfortunately, I just don't think he's very tactically astute. I think he'd be a brilliant assistant manager.
They may be completely different in the dressing room but both Flitcroft & Moore don’t strike me as being the most intelligent. That might not matter so much in a managers role but it’s got to count in a director of football role. I’m not trying to be nasty towards either but if I went through every British manager we’ve had in the last 20 years or so - Ritchie, Davey, Robins, Hill, Wilson, Johnson, Heckingbottom, Duff & Collins I’d say they all come across as smarter & more articulate than Flitcroft & Moore. Flitcroft’s big thing at Barnsley seemed to be passion rather than anything tactical. He spent a lot of money on dross when he got the managers role. Extending contracts of pretty poor players & giving them pay rises after a good 3 months.
It still surprises me to see Port Vale at the bottom of the league. Not long after we tonked them - arguably against the run of play - they were 3rd in the league in September...
His one trick was as a tub thumper. He has the tactical knowledge of someone who has never been in football. How he has remained employed in the game as long as he has is a complete mystery.
Keefs been out of a job for 18months now, could be the last we see of them both, may have to get proper jobs.
Hardly surprising given his stint at Scunthorpe where he set them on their way to the National League North. I'm sure he's had plenty of time to take Sydney swimming
Sometimes in football things don't always work out. I'll remember Flitcroft for his part in the "Great Escape" like I remember Simon Davy for our great cup run. It's better to recall the good times and not the bad.
