I don't care what ex footballers say if I'm being honest. Would I have changed it? Probably not. Do I care that it's been changed? Not at all.
It's not a rainbow cross though. It's blue, purple and black stripes in the horizontal stripe of the cross.
This is why a lot of people don't like it though. People wouldn't have cared in the slightest if it was gold or white or black, the same way nobody is kicking off that it isn't on a white background, even though that's a much bigger departure from the actual flag than the changes made.
I can’t see the point in changing it but if it’s pissed Joey Barton off then I’m more than happy with it
This. It’s not even a flag it’s two intersecting lines on a collar that resemble the shape of a cross.
Don't disagree with that. But at the same time, if it was a proper rainbow cross, that was clearly a show of support for LGBT+, then I don't think you would've had the reactions mentioned on this thread from Starmer, McCoist and Seaman. It's a bit neither here nor there, and seems to be a pure design change, rather than a change to show support for a particular cause. Personally, I don't care. The extortionate cost of the shirt is a much bigger issue. 100%
No it isn't. Unless I'm colour blind. Colours of the rainbow. Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet For those not aware. The Acronym. Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain.
google the 2010 England shirt. Peter Saville I think. I doubt you were outraged then but since Brexit has emboldened this sort of nonsense about a flag it seems people can’t help themselves.
Not gonna lose any sleep over it, and not offended but it is wrong. The crest can be changed to match the shirt fair enough, it may contain parts of the flag like the Italian one it may not. No issue with that its the crest not the national flag. . But lots of National team shirts put the Actual national flag somewhere on the shirt. Whats the point if your gonna change the colour of it, if changing the colour its not the national flag anymore its just a coloured cross on a shirt. i know lots on her say they coukdnt give a sh|t, but lots of folk are proud to be English, are proud of our flag and i can see why it would p|ss folk off
We've not put the actual national flag on there though have we? Where's the white background or the outline? It's not changing the flag it's a stylistic representation of one element of the flag.
Sport is the only acceptable outlet for patriotism. In general life patriotism is divisive, us and them. We're better than that lot over there. Why? Because we don't know them. There's war across the world and real issues on our doorstep, but it's the trim on a shirt which the gammonati care about. No wonder we get the politics we deserve.
Not really interested in the flag debate, but this isnt right I'm a patriotic and proud Brit because we're one of, if not the, most tolerant, open and liberal nations in the world. Being patriotic isn't bigotry, as much as this weird antaganostic, argumentative new left want to try and twist it to be.
