I was lucky in that I started going at the beginning of the golden era. Horn Joyce Chambers Evans Mccarthy Glavin Banks Parker Barrowclough Aylott McHale No-one has come close to the skill guile and instinct of Glavin in a Barnsley shirt.
People say that football's boring, ronnie Glavin's always scoring, caaan you hear the Ponty's roaring, glavin is our King................⚽⚪️⚽ Happy Birthday Sir Glavin of Oakwell
Can still reel that eleven off after all these years. Without doubt the best Reds side I ever watched.
Not many advantages to been in your mid 50s but seeing Ronnie's full Barnsley career is definitely one of them.
By a country mile the best player we've ever had. The whole ground held its breath when he got the ball. Genuinely ridiculous we had him at that level - he'd walk into most sides these days.
Agreed that he’s the best we’ve ever seen in living memory but being a bit of a pedant we did have Danny Blanchflower and Tommy Taylor. My Dad and grandad had the good fortune of seeing them all.
Yes but not at their peak . Unlike Ronnie was the greatest player ever to wear the red shirt. Can't believe we ever got the privilege to see him play for us , great memories in my opinion.
Can you imagine it now in all seater stadium?....no one would be sat down when Ronnie got ball, you even tried to stand taller back in day when he got ball..... best we’ve had in my time too
Bit same as John Stones, obviously a better player(world class) eventually, but Ronnie has the edge with his performances whilst playing for us definitely
Lucky to see that team play week in week out, like many things ya don't kno what ya have until it's gone. great days
I remember this team well. Wonderful times. When Ronnie got the ball at his feet and just powered forward, you always expected, and often got, a goal. Even when the pitch was 3 inch deep in mud, he still kept control of the ball. Happy Birthday Ronnie!
Wish that team was playing now. It virtually picked itself week in week out. A time when a point away from home was treated like a defeat. I'm very lucky to have the memories. I can't remember who started for the reds a month ago but i can literally tell you who the subs were for this team during the season. The only other team i can name man for man is the 1966 world cup team.
