Gave him 5, didn't get much wrong except for booking Earl then not booking their lad for an identical foul barely a minute later. Could have been a bit stricter in dealing with time wasting.
Crap for both teams. Not sure why we bother with them anymore. Inconsistent yellow cards for one team that aren’t when the other team does the same thing. I still fail to see the point of the whole let’s stop a corner coming in cos I want to have a word with players - one of said players drags one to the floor - nothing given. Can only think that was cos he knew he had dropped a bollack by not allowing the 2nd goal that shouldn’t have been disallowed. Time wasting just as bad as it was last season.
1. Very lucky to get that too. Appalling decision not to allow their goal. Terrible to book early but not theirs just after and allowing their player to walk from the 6 yard box to the halfway line when supposedly injured was a joke.
5. Inconsistency with bookings, failure to get a hold of the game when there was argy bargy in the box or with time wasting. Thought he got the disallowed goal right though. At the time in the ground I thought we’d got very very lucky - but watching it back McCart is kept out of the game by the lad backing him out of the way, allowing a free header for their centre half back stick - for me it was a clear foul and I think it is unfair to suggest otherwise. Not that it helped us that much. You might argue going 2-0 down then might have kicked them into doing something…
He booked their defender for wasting 20 secs at a throw, then allowed the keeper to take 40 secs minimum every kick. Also the appalling way he allowed Lyle Taylor to walk 50 yards off the pitch when he was injured in the SIX yard box.
Very inconsistent again, though he made no game-changing decisions. Our first yellow card offence was duly punished, yet they had at least 3 before that, and a few after. I don’t think their first yellow was for a foul, either time-wasting or dissent. It’s a generous 3 from me.
Allowed the keeper to get away with time wasting most of the game. Allowed Taylor to take the long way off the pitch instead of going off behind the goal. Disallowed a perfectly good goal. He had a mare.
Zero from me, wrong decisions, inconsistent and let them waste time from early on, the worst instance being when the player placed the ball outside the quadrant when taking a corner. 1 minute wasted while he had to go and check. He had his pants pulled down and did nothing about it
He got the disallowed goal spot on, as Cambridge had clearly worked on it. A player pushed McCart forward with two hands to his back and his teammate headed it into the empty space. I was just getting out of my seat to bollock the ref for missing the push, but he’d seen it. A short while later, from the next corner, Digby wrapped his arms around Phillips and literally dragged him away to create the space, but this time his teammate didn’t do his part. With loads of defenders in the way, referees are going to miss these fouls, so you can see why teams are basically practising cheating. Cheating is being coached into them. Depressing really. The penalty decision was one of the most inept pieces of refereeing I’ve ever seen though. He twice held up the corner to speak to the defender and then watched the defender rugby tackle our player to the ground. What the **** did the ref say to the defender?!? Bizarre.
I thought he was very poor and echo most of the comments above. I thought he was wrong to disallow their second goal he was consistently inconsistent letting some fouls go the blowing for identical offences. Handling time wasting was hilarious. Wasn’t quite as bad as most of our players so giving him a 2
I thought he was pretty irrelevant to the outcome of the game. We lost because we were dreadful not because of anything he did. I seem to be betting increasingly sympathetic to Refs (yes I’m worried about it). I think because essentially they have to deal with 22 cheats on the field and a fair few off it.
