Match Day Mega Thread (Burton Albion away)

This team is a shadow of its peak earlier in the season. No creativity, no inspiration, no guile, no urgency. I don't know what's gone wrong. The Burton goal was an inevitability just waiting to happen. They've had several decent shots on goal and what have Barnsley had? Some mis-controls in the penalty area. Too nice as well. The ball was bouncing around the Burton penalty area, O'Keeffe should have launched at it and drawn the penalty. Instead he lets the Burton player clear it. Two minutes later, the Burton defender hits the deck under a slight contact from McCart. We need those things to go both ways.

Not that the ref would have given anything. It seems a bit churlish to pick out the ref when the team are performing so poorly but he's been comically incompetent. How that wasn't card at the end I don't know. He's literally crumpled five yards away from the free kick and the ref allows him to wind down the three minutes of added time to add insult to injury. Another time Earl was fouled, the ref turned away from the foul and when he turned back he made them take it ten yards behind where the foul had been committed. Awful.

 

TBF I imagine many of us would be relieved if Northampton was our finale to this very odd season. Why prolong the agony?

Can you imagine how depressed we’d all be if we by some strange miracle got Promoted and then spent the Whole of next season at the very bottom of the Championship?

Fact is we are a mediocre side, if we fluke promotion in the play-offs we are no where near Championship level and will probably lose most games, yo-yoing back down. We’re pretty safe so maybe it’s worth thinking about blooding some of the young ones with a good run in the team? and getting rid of the deadwood and preparing for next season.

Just seen the goal comceded. For a line up with so many defensive players, we don’t seem to have anyone that realise the job of defending is to stop opponents from scoring. Not a single challenge. See a lot of praise for MDG on social media, but the goals we concede suggest he is awful, and the idea that he could replace Mads Andersen was laughable.
