If you've only two centre halfs rather than 3, and the opposition has 2 strikers or a striker and two wingers, and they're pressing, there is no time to pass amongst the back line, I agree. But having 3 central defenders allows you to draw the press and break quickly with an overload in midfield.
Yes but what precise formation? How many minutes per player..,it’s not like we pay professional coaches to make these decisions.
I think todays first half selection was to try a back 4 with additional protection playing Russel with Cadden and OKeefe in front of the back 4 as protection. It didnt work but fair play for trying. I would like to see him try a back 4 again but with less defenders in midfield.
Getting weird this. You said he was picking the wrong formation & I asked what formation he should pick. It’s a perfectly natural next question to ask. Nothing to do with minutes per player. Imagine been at the match. ‘Can’t believe he’s starting Cosgrove’. ‘Well who should he play instead?’ ‘Don’t ask me that’s what we pay someone for’ You’ve obviously thought about it & couldn’t come up with one we’re better suited to so are pretending I’ve asked you some kind of complicated question that only an expert in football management could ever comprehend.
