Cheers I've not seen that before. Loved the cars Morris Marina Ford Capri Ford Courtina, took me back. Dark days, good camaraderie, rubbish working conditions, **** money. Happy memories thanks.
Hard not to feel quite emotional about that. The strike affected ordinary working people and devastated their lives. No doubt pits became uneconomic but no doubt that would have been the case in other countries who subsidised their own industries. Instead of having coal resources of our own we now have to import what is needed and every pit in the Barnsley area gone. The defence industry is not economic and yet political priorities means that they will pour billions into that because of the political will to do so. It was the political will of the day to kill the coal industry. Which is exactly what they did.
