Ball out wide to Williams, perfect for a first time cross, but no, take a touch and then pass it back to the halfway line. So frustrating.
Winning only two games in the last seven (and to teams in the relegation zone) is going a long way to defining our season though. Feel free to not think that’s hugely concerning, feel free to think things are fine. We haven’t been good all season. We’ve not put a complete 90 minutes together at any point really - since the Bolton game though we’ve been absolute crap, one half at fourth bottom Burton possibly excepted.
Until we appointed a manager who knew how to get a tune out of them. Perhaps the current squad are capable of much better in the same way.
He looked good in his first two or three appearances but has regressed. I’ll let you conclude as to why. I know what I think.
I know Collins' substitutions didn't work today, in fact they were very counter-productive, but it wasn't Collins who gave away a silly free kick on the edge of the area and it wasn't Collins who put it over from two yards out. It wasn't Collins who waved away two penalty shouts. Things could have been very different today. That's football.
We started getting decent results the last few games before Little Lee went, I'm still putting it down to the signing of Hammill
Not the point. Effort or not, 1 point from Cheltenham, Cambridge and Charlton for a team supposedly going for promotion is not good enough. They don't deserve applause just for doing the bare minimum when people paying good money today don't get the same for doing that in their jobs.
Saying you want your own team to lose is pathetic. Calling that out isn’t being a happy clapper. I genuinely believe the Club are better off without these people. They’re not fans or supporters. They’re just perpetually negative drains.
This is my major gripe with this season. Over playing almost every time, passing it around, letting the opposition get back into shape... and then conceding possession to a sloppy pass anyway.
I remember that game against York City when Vicki was chucking sachets at him as he was dead on his feet.
Didn't we not win for 11 out of 12 games in 2006 before getting promoted? Or are you lot saying you'd rather finish 7th than 6th and not even have a go? I'm not a happy clapper but you lot are on the other spectrum
Conversely, you could argue that a willingness to accept whatever dross is served up to you creates an atmosphere all of it's own. An atmosphere that allows the owners to get away with not being ambitious, allows a Head Coach far more time in a position than 90% of other clubs higher up the pyramid would allow. For the record, he's allowed a negative opinion just as much as you're allowed a positive one. Personally, I would have sacked him months ago, I've been very consistent in my belief that he's 100% not the man to take us forward. We all say this, win, lose or draw, we don't care as long as the lads give 100% and try their hardest. I can't remember the last time a Collins team did that, despute their being a large number of the current playing squad who did precisely that last year under Duff. Duff, for his many faults, was incredibly passionate. It showed on the pitch. Collins is dull and uninspiring....so is his football.
he couldn’t and when he signed last time on a months contract he was in last chance saloon , he needed us as much as we needed him , one of the few gambles Cryne made that came off . Charlton is one of those places we usually get nothing from , still think we’ve got enough to get in the playoffs then it’s anyone’s guess
Imho today...as I stated earlier, i thought we would lose or take a point if im been generous. What I saw today did not inspire me...it was the same awful awful defending we see at oakwell...we can't head a ball ....we can't decisively tackle and we are just not organized. I keep hearing get to 4..4..2....pure desperation, we don't have full backs who can defend for a start and then just check out the centre backs. With all that said the difference today...was one man ...a footballer...bbs ...I give you Alfie may ...5 foot nothing but ever inch a player. Not sure how he didn't get a hatrick...left foot ...right foot ...holding the ball up, fantastic display. Thought we would energize more that 2nd half but we were second best all over and never worked Isted. I'm taking the defeat well because we deserved to lose today...well done Charlton but they are no world beaters like many in this division.
Everyone is entitled to voice their opinions. I genuinely believe the happy clappers insistence on putting up with whatever they are served up and attempting to shut down any criticism of the club is more damaging but that's their right just as it's others right to voice concerns.
