Agree. We’re either going to take a cut price for him from maybe a team that goes up from league 1 this season or he is going to have to get his head down.

Scary how many soft goals we give away. Basic stuff too.

Is it just 2 clean sheets this calendar year? That’s very poor and constantly asking a lot for us to score 2/3 every game to win.

Absolutely, this is not the head coach's fault.
Signing defenders from 5 leagues below is the problem.

I have no idea what May’s domestic situation is but a move along the A40/M40 to London made more sense than going back up to Yorkshire. He’s Kent-born and has played all his career in the south apart from three years at Donny where his record wasn’t that good. At his age I would guess Charlton was a good move for him.

Totally agree, the recruitment has been pathetic this last season or two, especially up top.

Hopefully, we look at bringing someone in with more than just a season of scoring and has a recent history over a couple of years. Wouldn’t mind Langstaff from Notts who is a better version of Dallas.

Unfortunately we missed a trick last summer. He recently signed a new deal until 2027.

The problem is the scattergun approach of signing loads of cheap players in the hope that some of them will come good we had a decent run of luck and signed some real gems but instead of building on the successes the boards cashed in on them without investing in slightly better players with the proceeds they've kept on trying to repeat the trick but like all good runs in gambling sooner or later you'll hit a run of bad luck and by god has that come true in the last few windows. So we are now left with a squad of players without a saleable asset amongst them and a coach who can't seem to improve them to be saleable.

Agree. And the main problem it causes is were never ready come August. We seem to have to muddle on through until players get up to speed or till december comes to get better players in on loan etc. Ive said it for years, points at start a season mean the same as at the end but were dont seem consistently decent until October time. It usually shows when we get dumped out of the Carabou cup by some even lower lg team.

Do you not think wages played a part too.

I didn’t say we weren’t interested. I said we didn’t appear to be interested. I’m not saying we should have signed him even. I agree, that’s often down to the player. I was really just using it as an example to highlight how critical it is to get that part of the pitch right, and by contrast how bad a job we’ve done of it. Quality over quantity has to be something we start to focus on IMO. Problem of course is doing that in a way that doesn’t wreck salary structure. Definitely not easy, but we have to get better. We’re just blowing time and money on one bad striker after another.

Of course but we don’t know about those details seeing as they’re usually confidential

I think we all knew as soon as the play off final finished that we would need to rebuild the defence, as Andersen and Thomas would both need replacing. The board had a choice, either invest in a defence that would see us build on the second half of last season, or not. We were never going to find a player as good as Andersen to come in, so in my opinion, we needed an experienced defender to come in, play in the middle of the three, organise the defence and help younger players around him. Not someone that has played 80 games in the French second and third tiers, and move Jordan Williams into the back three because you've loaded the squad full of right wing backs.

Add the signings of Dallas and Watters, it really was an awful summer transfer window

We're in dire need of a clear out and a massive shake up. The likes of Cadden, Cole, Kane and to a lesser extent Phillips and Connell, all seem to just be turning up and going through the motions. Kane, Cadden and Cole definitely don't want to play here next year, otherwise they'd have signed new contracts months ago. Good as far as I'm concerned.

Whatever happens with this season, we really do need to have a hard reset this Summer. New DOF in position and another couple at management level that I can't recall off-hand. A malaise seems to have crept into the entire squad and that needs altering, and quickly.

Hungry young lads blended with older heads with whatever league we are in's experience.

I'm hoping the new sporting Director has been busy since arriving, big task ahead in the summer with limited resources

Over a short space of time just consider the finances wasted (transfer fees and wages and pay offs) for very little return on the following attacking players.

    Bahre
    Frieser
    Schmidt
    Simoes
    Thomas
    Oulare
    Iseka
    Tedic
    Shaw
    Dallas
    Watters
    Cosgrove

The buck stops with the recruitment team.

You can't improve all players... I'm sure there's an old saying that mentions not being able to polish a ****
