Has anybody seen Sky's programme about Bazza, who is 79 today? It went out on Friday as part of the buildup to the Trophy final, and it shows a good luck message sent to him by Ivan Toney. What's really interesting though is that he goes on to say Toney's career could have been very different - when he was at Peterboro Ivan, his dad and his agent begged Fry and MacAntony for a transfer to Barnsley. Fry refused and told the player he was better than that and if he stayed around a little longer he'd make him a millionaire. Which fair enough, he did! Theres also an appearance by Luke Steele during a Fry visit to Peterborough Sports. It's on catchup until Friday, worth a look.
Yep we wanted him in the summer when kieffer moore wanted out. We replaced him with schmidt instead and toney joined Brentford in January.
Good show was that. I remember his Birmingham City days in the 90s. 433 with a front three of Peter Ndlouv, Paul Furlong and Dele Adebola.
I’d have liked to have seen us sign Toney. Of course, there’s no guarantee he’d have gone on to have the same career. But you’d think he’d have at least done well with us.
It's a good programme and worth watching. He's a proper old school football bloke is Barry who uses his eyes to judge players and situations, it's a shame we haven't got someone like him around our club to offer opinions on recruitment and assist the owners on football matters.
