Having somehow forgotten that Barnsley were playing in white, I thought Jalo was the defender on the extreme left and looked to be clearly offside….
To me both decisions were correct, Jalo definitely and the May decision must be by millimetres and I wouldn't blame a lino for going either way.
I agree strongly with your assessment of our back three. What's more, we sometimes had very good centre-backs even in the 4th Division, Eric Winstanley and Pat Howard being absolutely outstanding. Later we had McCarthy and Evans, then Futcher and May. More recently, Mawson and Roberts, Pinnock and Lindsay, Helik and Andersen all stand out. We don't have a single high class centre back now, and I think this needs to be taken into account when assessing Collins as a head coach. He didn't sign the players we have now. He was just given them and asked to do his best.
