lincoln can get to 80 points if they win their remaining games , so should that happen then we need 7 more points

If Lincoln get 80 Oxford only get 79. So 79 + better GD does it. In no way is it mathematically 7 points

Hope you did. I’m on number 8 of something called Monastére. It’s decent. I’m watching 51dt state remembering the early 2000s!

What a depressing stat ! I was thinking we were going to get close to 100 points until Bolton equalised in the 98th minute then the capitulation started.

    Based on PPG form:

    Pompey - 100 points.
    Derby - 89
    ———
    Bolton - 88
    Peterborough - 86
    Barnsley - 81
    Oxford - 80
    ———
    Lincoln - 78

We’re going to be pushed until the last game or two which has shown the disastrous form but at the same time, we’re capable of getting two wins and a draw.

Better than the Real Madrid side that included Beckham, Zidane, Carlos, Figo, Raul and Ronaldo I’ve heard!

But does the PPG form take into account the fixtures between the relevant teams, out of interest, or is it just a pure projection of current PPG?

The key factor in our favour is that both Oxford and Lincoln can't achieve 100% of their remaining points available, due to still having to play each other. Similarly, Oxford and Stevenage can't do the same if they're also considered still to be a part of the play-off candidates.

In that projection, both Oxford and Lincoln are due to draw a game…assuming that’ll be against each other.

Clearly I'm bored (or worried) but if this helps:

Can we get top 6 Tues? No but a draw means Stevenage can't catch us, a win means both them and Blackpool can't

Can we get top 6 on Sat? Yes with 2 wins. Yes with 4 points if:

Lincoln lose (we would be on 78 max 77 for them)
Lincoln d Oxford L (us 78 Linc 9 behind Ox 8 behind and they play each other so both can't catch us)
Lincoln D Oxford D (as above but 9 and 7 point gap and both can't catch us)

Anything else we go on to the pompey game possibly needing something.

Also GD unlikely to be our friend. Definitely not compared to Lincoln. Oxford it's very tight but the lower the points we were to finish level on the worse for us.

Eg we finish level on 74 we would have GD decrease of at least 5 (W0 D0 L5) so +16 at best. they would have W1D1 L2 so very similar to what they have now (+18). In their favour

We finish level on 79 we would have W1 D2 L2 so similar GD to now (+21) They would have W3 L1 so probably better to what they have now (+18).

    Hope that helps.....

Yeah we'll finish where we deserve to be. In we can't get 5 points from the last 5 games, then so be it. And we won't deserve playoffs. Personally we'll probably just limp over the line.. And you're point on fringe player's.. They are on the fringe for a reason, because they're not good/consistent enough. Our so called best 11-13 are struggling, so why would you want to put players in who over the last nine months have been at an even lesser standard.?

As I see it, the maximum Oxford can get is 82 points.
The maximum Lincoln can get is 80.
However they have to play each other.
An Oxford win would leave Lincoln with a max of 77pts.
A Lincoln win would leave Oxford with a max of 79pts.
A draw would leave Oxford with a max of 80 and Lincoln with a max of 78.

All these tables are great, and done by people with far more patience than me. But .........

None of them take into account us getting a points deduction. We still have a charge hanging like a noose around our necks.

Fair point but you would think that it's taken this long they won't resolve the issue in next two weeks, fingers crossed.

In addition to the above btw, we can also seal playoffs 5pm Sat with 3 points if both Lincoln and Oxford lose.....

I can't see us missing out on the play-offs despite the drop off. Not sure how we will perform in them though, one thing for certain is that we won't be able to defend a 1-0 lead comfortably like we did against Bolton last season.

    Agree with all this.

can’t believe the negativity of some posters just cos we played crap last couple of weeks.
It’s like everyone had forgotten our form over the whole season isn’t a fluke, we were in touching distance of top 2 over that time for a reason and that form can just as easily come back.
