It's not really a question of that, Williams is a proven Championship player who will be useful whether they're relegated or not... from the married and families players point of view he'll be more likely to sign for a wage rise from a club that doesn't entail him living out of a suitcase... the only exception is if he was offered megabucks... which is a bit unlikely.
Out of curiosity who do you consider were the were the players that hated playing for us last season?
If they want to and are wanted they do. If Huddersfield think he's good enough for them I would love to know what they have seen.
He's virtually the only one we've got with real Championship experience... 51 games... Kane is next with 31, Cole 24.
It’s part of our model… get players hungry but not quite ready. Get them ready and move them on. The players know we’re a stepping stone.
This thread is completely nuts. Bearing in mind that players will be on very substantial promotion bonuses, have a potential trip to Wembley on the horizon and will have a promotion on their CV which is likely to be a useful lever when negotiating their next contract, the idea of any professional footballer "downing tools" when they've still got something to play for - and not just anything to play for, but a winner's medal at Wembley - is absolutely ludicrous beyond belief. Trips to Wembley don't come around very often. Many professional footballers will never get a sniff of playing there. Winning things is what players want to do. Any notion that someone would sack that off because they'd got a pre-contract agreement for next season with another mediocre, provincial club with whom they have no personal affinity, is barking.
That's not true though is it.. Kane's been one of our top three players all season and definitely the pick of this seasons midfielders.. As for your new era statement.. don't we have one of those ever summer these days..
I don't think it is. If you've got several hundred thousand pounds of income entirely contingent on you not getting injured over the next month or two that's bound to play on your mind.
It might play on your mind, and if the team had nothing to play for then the hypothesis is entirely reasonable. I just think that Wembley and promotion trumps everything. At least it should do.
they're both league one players, the issue is carrying players with this attitude kills the dressing room, just bad management all round
Problem with this for me isn’t that they want away, or if it’s even true, it’s the amount of people that take pleasure in piling on based on a rumour. Our support is so begrudging, any opportunity to be ‘unhappy’ and we grasp it willingly. it’s quite sad.
It won't do though. Players won't risk losing out on a vast pay increase by trying their best when they can get injured. Most players when they retire will answer how successful they were based on money in the bank not medals won.
I remember thinking at the time at that interview that here is a disgruntled player who certainly doesn't really want to be here. It's been said that he was unhappy that Liam Kitchin was granted a last minute transfer to Coventry. Ive got news for you Herbie - neither were the fans but we had to put up with it and support the players remaining. Not sure how this summers fire sale will go as the ones at the end of their contracts will be off for free leaving us with not many saleable assets.
