Should we be getting on the blower to arrr John. He’s a bright lad and speaks well. Could see him going into management. Maybe if we make contact now that may grease the wheels to him joining us back in a few years time. I know I’d be making the calls if I was in charge..
Would that be 29 year old, currently playing at the richest club in the country for hundreds of thousands of pounds per week, John Stones?
Definitely something I've thought about. I think one of the unfortunate things from our point of view is that because of the position he plays he's likely to be capable of performing at the very top well into his mid-30's injuries permitting. Although according to our mutual friend, his best career path post-footy would be to get his PGCE and become a geography teacher.
Even if he's saved up something in the region of £50 million, that would very quickly disappear if he was bankrolling a professional football club.
Good idea but he whilst he would be the name that puts eyes on us, he would need far richer investors than himself to come on board with him. Think of it like Becks at Miami.
Owning Barnsley would be a great way for John Stones to make a small fortune ...out of the big fortune he starts with.
Is he gonna be the new Mick McCarthy for the next 40 years everytime we have a vacancy, always touted, never to appear for fear of ruining the legacy
John Stones hopefully has a lot of playing to do yet. I'm really proud to see a Barnsley lad reach the top & he is at the top. Whilst I applaud the OP's sentiments, I think there is more chance of a Cosgrove hat trick at Wembley.
A pint of old fashioned Stones bitter might be better than him lol. But he's got us in the Play off race.
I think there's as much chance we hang on to Kane, Coles and Williams as Watters getting 25 goals, but you're right, you never know!
