Just bought tickets for 6 of us but I'm questioning my/our sanity. It is the last away game I suppose.....
https://www.visitblackpool.com/things-to-do/whats-hot-in-blackpool/ https://www.blackpool.gov.uk/news/b... for 2024 include, the spiritual home of dance. https://www.blackpool.gov.uk/news/w...oxhall-village-west-site.aspx?date=03-07-2023 Loads going off there again this year. Plenty of new entertainment and eateries have opened. There has been constant upgrading of facilities for the past twenty years. One of the most recent being getting shut of the outdoor market across from Coral Island on the back street. Foxhall Village when completed will be over 400 affordable properties spitting distance from the Football ground and a five minute walk to the seafront. Blackpool has way more going for it than the vast majority of towns.
Which is great until you arrive and then someone from Glasgow throws up on you, or a hen party starts picking an argument with you, or a drug user srats hassling you. It’s just a place full of pissed up, out of control people.
I was born there, as my Mum & Dad had a hotel on the south shore. Not been back in many a year now though. I prefer the East Coast.
I've never experienced any of that in Blackpool personally. I'm not saying that sort of thing doesn't happen, but I often think that it's reputation gets overexagerrated (not accusing you of that BTW).
https://www.abingdonstreet.market/vendors That hasn't been open long. Better option than eating in the ground and they serve beer.
Guess what. Never missed a year in all my 67. and it's time you stopped hanging about with em. . Each to their own. But try any resort or town at the weekend and it's much the same just on a smaller scale. I go many times and it ain't as bad as you paint imo. Love the Scots they know how to have a good time. Spot on. Neither have I. And i go every year. Just folk out enjoying themselves in the main. But on a bigger scale. Cos of the size of the place. As you say a reputation lots Jump on. Go once and have a bad experience.
I’m not against anyone having a good time. As anyone who knows me will testify…. I just can’t remember any good times in Blackpool (as an adult). As a child it was magical with the lights etc. Grotty hotels, and everything else I have previously described. I have no doubt that lots of people have a great time there. It’s not for me.
Have you been since they tidied up the promenade. On the beach side J. P. Vast improvements. East coast has it's place. But as you say. East coast as in Cornwall or Devon (love Torbay btw my favourite uk destination). I personally couldn't spend more than a few days at any particular resort. Only as a base to move around. Like Brid, But would visit Scarbro. Filey, whitby etc. If spending a week there.
I dont choose to stay in Grotty Hotels. Most are dated. but tell me a place that isn't. Some great ones to find in blackpool. I'm in agreement that it's not the same as you get older But take the Grandkids mon - fri. On occasion , Arcades (not everyones cup of tea and only for a short while.) Pleasure beach. No other resort can match. Zoo. Stanley park. Beach not the best but that's the irish sea for you. Other places inside if weather is crap. Eg Blackpool tower with its circus. Theatres etc etc. We are going fri-sun. 70 of us. 50+ of us couples. Average age 60+ . We'll have a good time and hopefully get a victory.
