Collins could be a totally different manager next season. Just say we scrape through the playoffs and have a squad rebuild. He might even be plucked away either way.

Plenty of unrest within the fanbase, but for those on the outside looking in, even getting to the playoffs will be seen as a good season, or even just missing out.

He could be off regardless of where we finish.

Strubher. 1 minute from relegation. We should never have been in that position. Kept playing inferior players till the last few games.
Val.1 trick pony got worked out at the end. As shown in his last 2 efforts.
Duff. Couldn't get his running shoes on fast enough.
Not for me. I understand ambition. But not prepared to move.

If Collins were to be relieved of his duties. (And I reckon it's no time soon, The players have to take the responsibility for their poor performances)
There are others I'd go for b4 those 3. But I'll keep em to missen. Last time I was enthused by who we brought in, was Spackman. Nuff said

But it's still about getting behind the manager and the team for me. None of this pessimism about not competing if we go up. Brand new start with players in and out. I'd take promotion and take our chances rather than another year in league 1. Either way I'll be there.

I’d rather give Collins a 50 year contract rather than have Lee Johnson back. Of the others any of them would be an improvement but won’t be happening.

As for Duffer, he might be a realistic option IF Collins does go. But as with every manager who leaves us questionably like that for another club, there's still always a lack of trust as to whether they will do it again.

We had far better players in every way when Ismael was in charge, especially after the January window brought in Morris and Dike. Those two, along with Chaplin and Woodrow, represented our best attacking options in many years. We also clearly have inferior centre backs now to Helik and Andersen, and no midfielder anywhere near as consistently reliable as Mowatt. I think any of our former coaches would find it pretty tough going with the squad at Collins' disposal.

You've been around long enough now to know the BBS obsession with bringing back a former coach or player.

I'm not convinced he'll be significantly different.

I think he can probably improve his matchday decision-making and touchline presence with more experience, but the biggest weakness I see is that he's failed to improve any of the squad members who were with us last season, but has overseen several of them regressing. Our operating model relies heavily on player development, and I don't see the evidence that he delivers it.

The optimal scenario for me, albeit it seems unlikely, is that he's poached from us over the summer, which would feel like a scenario where everyone wins. I don't dislike him, but I don't see how he's the right person to move us forward based on the evidence of this season.

You say that, but we signed Carlton Morris a few seasons back and also Dike on loan, so we do sometimes drop on. I’m pretty sure with one or both of them in the side (or similar) he would be able to mix up the style of play. He did say that Cosgrove was bought for that purpose, but as we all know, he’s been poo.

The BBS in three years, after 17 more left-field managerial gambles:

"I see Collins is available after leaving Tampa again. Worth a shot?"

Signing the talent isn't the issue I'm talking about. I'd fear for Morris and Dike's career trajectory with Collins coaching them, as I'd be convinced they'd regress too.

More seriously, I feel so sorry for Dike seeing him constantly breaking down with these major injuries. He really was a special talent with us, and he's just been unable to kick on via a consistent injury-free run since then.

Best freebie we had. Glad we didn't sign him. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Nobody had value from him since.

Bit harsh for me mate. He hasn’t got anyone remotely as good as Morris in his squad, and somehow managed to get a tune out of Cole for a chunk of the season.

It’s his first job in English football and he’s still learning his trade, but i doubt he’ll be here long enough for back to back seasons, so pointless debate really.

I certainly agree that we are far better off going up. If we do, it's more or less certain that we'll start next season with a better squad than if we remain in League One.

"he's failed to improve any of the squad members who were with us last season"

Kane and Cole have had their best seasons since they joined the Club...I'm not giving Collins credit for that necessarily, but it contradicts the assertion that all the players have gone backwards. In the case of our wingbacks it's hardly surprising they haven't shone, last season they didn't have to spend so much time assisting this season's complete s***show of a defence that the spreadsheet left us with.

Gotta back Collins til end of season but for me I'd rather have Stendel back than Struber, Big Val or Duff. The football played under Daniel Stendel was exciting to watch and the pressing style too brought us success. Granted the playing staff was different but the side to side pedestrian style we play now is boring and predictable.

I don't think Kane is a better player this season than he was last year. He's looked great at times, but has been more inconsistent.

I'd have argued that Cole was the exception at the midway point of the season, but he's done very little of note since then. Ultimately, he looks to be a similar player to the one we had last year, but in more of a 'season of two halves' this time around. He was inconsistent last year, whereas this season he's looked great for a reasonable spell, then mediocre for an equally long period of time.

For me, neither of them are examples of players that have improved this season, although I accept it's a subjective matter so opinions will vary on this.
