The number of goals they've scored suggest otherwise...in Kane's case..he's scored more this season than all previous seasons put together, without knowing the answer I would suspect he also has a lot more points on the BBS MoM thread than ever before. Whatever...it is not correct to say they have gone backwards.
Yes it is. They've gone massively backwards in my opinion. There are more stats than simply scoring goals which can be down to luck or lack of it in a particular moment. Overall play, massively massively backwards but so have every player in the squad imo.
So we're in the play off positions but goal scoring doesn't matter nor the loss of a competent defence..are you Hemssy in disguise?
I didn't say it doesn't matter. I said it isn't the only way to judge if a player has improved or not
No...true to a point but Kane has scored more than every season put together...without knowing the answer, my guess is he'll be far up the Bbs fans table than in any previous season...probably Cole the same. Kane has 3 more goals but 1 fewer assists in 5 fewer games. Cole has 3 more goals and the same number of assists in 5 fewer games.
Haha fair. Despite Schopp and Asbaghi being absolutely woeful, I find it quite hard to compare. Schopp took a team from fifth to bottom with Asbaghi’s help but I’m not sure Poya would have been that disastrous if he was given the full season. He was absolutely atrocious and made Keef look like a King but not sure we would have gone down as pathetically. I said it on here at the time of Schopp’s appointment but it too much of a risk appointing him after gathering together such a good squad.
Wouldn't have any of them, jumped ship at the first opportunity. Collins should be given another full season, the constant changing of coach is detrimental to our long term improvement. Collins style of play may change depending on what players stay or brought in Hopefully Pines gets an injury free season. Jalo becomes a regular starter, Connell get back to full fitness and form. That would be a decent spine of a team to work with.
How do you get Collins to change the boring style of football we play? Is it all down to the player mix we have or is this his preferred style? If its the latter I am not sure another another season like this last one will be appreciated.
I'm sure it's the player mix we have. Defenders not strong enough to play as a 2 so has to play 3. Midfielders all central and no wingers so we use wingback. I'm hoping this changes in the summer recruitment.

From an article about Neil Collins' management style before he joined Barnsley "From 2020 onward, the Rowdies have most frequently played with three at the back, with wingbacks on either side of a midfield two or three. Long balls to bypass opposition lines are not infrequent, but seem to be a less ideal option generally. When possible, a Collins team will play out of the back and build that way, trying to draw in opposing pressers and then bypass them through the use of a central midfield pivot." Sadly he isn't playing this way because of our players, he's doing so because it's his signature style.
I mean, if we're talking about managers we'd have instead of Collins but have no chance of getting, I'd go for Pep Guardiola.
