https://www.efl.com/news/2023/may/efl-and-sky-sports-broadcast-rights-agreement/ Does anyone know if the matches will still be streamed internationally? Be a shame if not
"Domestic Streaming From the 2024/25 season onward, this agreement makes more matches available to stream and will effectively replace the current Sky Sports EFL red button coverage and the EFL's domestic streaming option provided via iFollow and club streaming services. Domestic streaming audio services will remain alongside existing audio-visual arrangements for international audiences via iFollow and club streaming services." https://www.skysports.com/football/...ve-year-efl-deal-over-1000-matches-per-season
so basically every mid-week/bank holiday etc. game will be on sky. Wonder how/if that works with clubs providing commentary like Matt does currently or if it will be neutral comms/no comms.
Definitely! Problem is even with more games on Sky it'll just be more of the usual teams on there all the time!!
Part of the agreement is a more even selection plus every non-saturday being broadcast and 5 would-be 3pm saturday games in the championship and 5 across leagues 1 and 2 broadcast every weekend.
Agreed. Got rid of it a few months ago and not arsed. Hope the Prem implodes to be honest. Football needs a minor reset like it went through early 90’s.
The 3pm Saturday tradition is over CHEDULE & SLOTS Will Article 48 (3pm blocked broadcasting period) still apply? Yes, the blocked period between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on Saturdays will remain. This means there will be seven 3pm games in the Championship, and 19 x 3pm games in League One and Two combined, which will not be broadcast each weekend
Seems improbable that it would be more cost effective to the consumer to bring in a middleman as opposed to broadcasting from your own system, a system that will still be broadcast anyway, for the sake of the international viewers. Oh, what's that? The cost to the consumer isn't a consideration? I see.
Once again Sky and English football looking after the fans I see. With this and, inevitably, our homes games getting rearranged during intensional weekends, it feels like we will end up with about 10 Saturday afternoon home games. Hopefully though it won’t be as dramatic as that. Can’t wait to see what daft kick off times they come up with too. 8PM Saturday? 6PM Sunday? Could be all over the shop.
Back to the ITV Digital days of matches every day of the week to fit them in and all different times. I expect Sky to have a live game on a Thursday night.
