    Assumes they hadn't been planning this for some time. I believe it's called tapping up. Establish if Evans is interested. Agree a date for him to come in, sack your own manager and appoint Evans more or less immediately. The way the Millers have gone about it appears disrespectful to both Richardson and Stevenage.

    The statement from Stevenage says otherwise. Rotherham triggered a compensation clause, Stevenage gave permission for him to talk to them and told him they wouldn't stand in his way should he wish to go.

    It's a familiar scenario, as we are well aware at Oakwell.

    Now, as to how they were aware of the clause in the first place, that's something different, but par for the course these days.
