Hey, the draw for the '24 World Snooker tournament has been made, and we're all looking forward to it aren't we. It starts this weekend, and its all about who Ronnie O' will beat again in the Final innit, eventually, err maybe lol. I'm looking forward to the late night Snooker match day threads on here again, like we did for it last year, when Luca the Belgian surprisingly won it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/snooker/68775898
Well that's controversial, but I wonder how many other players think that. What annoys me about the Crucible arena, is its too big for the one table (the Semis and Final) set up, but its too small for the normal two table set up.
Almost fell asleep reading thread title if they were playing in the front garden I’d draw the curtains.
I think Ronnie is running his mouth before hand is a good sign he fancies' his chances of winning it. He does anything to take to heat off his snooker. He didn't do that before the tour championship. However, he did before the Grand Prix, Masters and U.K. Nice Ronnie isn't as good as Ronnie with an edge.
Be a shame if it left the Crucible but I have a feeling that the money will talk before too much longer. China or Saudi/UAE anyone?
Hasn't he? I don't believe Crucible should be able to host for ever and ever just because of "tradition". The venue hasn't moved with the times. It's too small and people get overcharged to go because it will still fill up. It doesn't give enough people a chance to go and the venue is old fashioned and outdated. It's the "world" championship not the Sheffield championship. Wembley moved with the times with a new venue. Darts moved with the times to Ally Pally from the Circus Tavern. I think Sheffield has rested on it's laurels like it expects it regardless of how little it does to improve the event. Look at footage of the earliest championships and footage of the most recent. Nothing really has changed.
I'm not sure that's the case. I've noticed over the years that there's more going on around the Crucible every year. There's a lot more to try and get people involved. When I used to go when I was at uni, other than the studio in the winter gardens, you could barely tell there was anything going on. Last year, there was all sorts of different activities going on outside the crucible. So they certainly do reinvest some of it into improving the experience.
I hope Stephen Maguire beats Ali Carter, cos I'm not keen on him lol. And Neil Robertson the former Champion and Aussie leftie, hasn't even qualified this time.
Let's be absolutely clear here. Ronnie O' Sullivan cares about one thing. Money. Naturally he wants it in Saudi, because he's just signed on to be an ambassador for them. An ambassador. For Saudi Arabia. Absolutely shameful.
