Many times sadly. Way beyond the mark of what is acceptable to voice your anger. I think some fans legit think he's purposely doing rubbish. I mean why would he want a pay rise for getting a promotion on his CV which would make him more likely to be poached.
I don’t mean cheer those specific passes, I mean generally be singing and supportive rather than groaning or shouting abuse at a back pass. I can imagine people starting off positive and as soon as the first time MDG passes it back to Roberts people will do a massive intake of breath, someone will do a half scream and others will shout ‘get it forward’ and that will be the end of the support. I’m asking people to try and hold that in and not to pass their nerves onto the players. Obviously I don’t mean start being a fake cheerleader and cheering everything, just generally keep the atmosphere supportive.
Yes but that's what I mean. Everyone knows the fans don't like that so the chanting or cheering will stop when they start doing it and even just pretending it's not happening and continuing to cheer almost ignoring what they're looking at would create a weird atmosphere and I think the players would pick up on that too. The onus really has to be on neill Collins here and if needed his bosses need to get involved
It wouldn’t be weird if a song continued during one back pass. If they did pick up on it then that’d be good, they’d do the first one nervously thinking they’re going to get slated and then realise that actually they’re going to be supported for once and would feel more confident the next time they do it, therefore being less likely to make a mistake. If the fans are going to react one of those two ways then continuing their support is better than shouting abuse, just because the players have come to expect the latter it doesn’t mean we should do it. Obviously the onus is on the head coach but we can’t change that, we can change how we react and if it helps us to win then it’s worth trying. Asking fans to support the players during a battle for the playoffs isn’t a big ask.
You're right but it's never just one back pass is it, it's a series of them across the back 3 then back again, then back again from the third time. Sing through one pass sure but that will be driven out by 8 or 9 passes across the back string together. Like I said, the onus is on the manager here. If he's unable or unwilling to play in any other way then we pay a sporting director AND a head of football now who needs to be stepping in.
The thing is yesterday we needed to get hold of the ball & take the sting out of the game. Every time we hoofed it forward it just came back at us. We all knew what was going to happen. They were always going to come out at 100% as they had nothing to lose but we had to stay in the game to try & take advantage second half when they inevitably slowed down & we failed. The timing of the 2nd & 3rd goals couldn’t have been worse (not that they weren’t deserved).
If the board have some ****** & sack him in the next 24 hours & let Disco have a crack I would be more than happy to attend & show my support on Saturday.
Not even just that. It's back and sideways 5, 6, 7 or more times and then an aimless punt forward. At least if the punt forward was done earlier there'd be a chance of catching the opponent before they had time to regroup and mark everyone. Our tactics seem to be caught between trying to retain possession and play Pep-lite or play a more direct style getting the ball into the forwards from the defence. The problem is we're not doing either effectively, we're giving up on retaining possession too soon and playing the direct ball too late. We need to pick one, no matter if it's popular or not, and stick with it.
Tha talks absolute sheet, if they don’t get in playoffs then goes, not with one game left and still in our own hands to get top 6!
If they start as they did against Bolton and Portsmouth there's no reason the crowd won't get behind them. They've got to believe they can so it imo, no matter what the backing from the crowd is.
Sorry but it makes more sense to sack him now & give someone else a go at the last game & hopefully play offs. Currently the atmosphere surrounding the club is toxic & it will remain so with Collins at the helm, it’s just a recipe for disaster.
Correct me if I am wrong mate but wernt you the one who returned your season ticket b4 start o season?….apologies if got wrong person
You might think it makes sense but you’re not the one paying him off, when in a few weeks someone could be coming in and paying compo for his services.
You really think that someone might be poaching Neill Collins in a few weeks? That is the funniest thing I've ever read on here.
I’ve got behind them at every home game I’ve been to this season but I’ve actually seen more losses than wins at Oakwell so it’s easy to see why things are so flat atmosphere wise as we keep seeing carbon copy performances.
Yes that’s me, for two reasons, one personal & the other displeasure at the summer recruitment shambles, been to two games this season when possible. Would go next weekend if the board did the right thing.
Nobodys going to be paying comp for him that is for sure! The other option is we in fact keep him, but that would be disastrous! So the only option to move forward is hope he walks, which why would he? Or sack him.. might aswell do it now & maybe whoever takes over for next weeks game might get a tune out of these players, just maybe…..
I can understand the Collins abuse to a extent. The footballs been shocking to watch all season, we should have had the play off secured weeks ago but instead we've took 9 points out of a possible 36 and the play offs look in doubt. As for booing Cole he had little chance yesterday when the tactic was tippy tap round the back then hoof to blackpools keeper or out of play. I think his form has dipped but some he will.never win over always been a scapegoat.
