If you took this season's results and reversed them, and we started with 9 points from 33, but rose up until holding 5th place after just hammering Port Vale 7 0 then Collins would likely still be here. Something has broken in the latter part of the season, and the sustained ebbing of performance, tenacity and seemingly morale around the team is what's probably done for him. If you truly don't believe he can turn it around, then we have a game to win and the play offs at stake.
Some of our fans are so dramatic. Football clubs sack managers literally constantly we aren’t “the laughing stock of the football league” for sacking a manager dead bottom of the league for the form table in the last 8 games with a play offs squad that was chasing autos before that. Nor does it mean that people on twitter are choosing when managers are sacked. Calm down.
I’ve had 3 people from work who support different clubs message me about this. They’re all baffled. It is a strange one.
Collins probably just lost it and told the DOF : "Look what do you ******* expect me to do when you give me gash like Sam Cosgrove, Barry ******* Cotter and a few non-league players? It's an absolute miracle we're 5th."
I wonder if a decision had been made sooner, and maybe he earned himself another game, with the performance (that deserved better) at Portsmouth.
Its been on the cards since Pines got injured. I feel slightly sorry for him, its not entirely his fault. We have made some odd decisions of late. Norwood should still be a Red despite his age. He hasn't been helped by the defence issues we have had, how many clean sheets have we had all season? Can we get Warnock in u til the end of the season? Is Devaney going to change that much? I'd like to see Duff back despite jumping ship.
It's strange but we've took 9 points from a possible 36 the footballs been slow ponderous and negative most of the season we've kept one clean sheet in about 25 games. It was stick or twist time and they've twisted. If Collins had got us into the play offs we wouldn't have filled oakwell.
Someone text me the same rumour. I thought it was a wing up but they said not. Not my favourite if it goes wrong for him it would be the clubs fault but definitely sell a few season tickets.
I was looking at the Blackpool squad...they've a number of players with Championship experience Husband 141 games Pennington 68 7PL Byers 79 Carey 48 Hamilton 63 Joseph 10 Lavery 64 Rhodes 381 6PL Norburn 36 Morgan 21 Gabriel 46 Ekpiteta 65 Coulson 54 Connelly 156 1PL Grimshaw 44 O'Donnell 42
I wouldn't be surprised if someone is being lined up to come in this week, seems perfect for Warnock on a temporary basis.
