Makes no sense. Even when we were winning and only lost 2 in 20 odd, the ground was still quiet, boorish and bordering on toxic..?
May also work in our favour, bud. It could say to managers do well here and there will be better opportunities, at least financially, for you to move on...
Make a decisive run, pass into midfield, out wide to the wing and push forward, beat a man, get a cross in etc etc. Unless you a Barcelona or Man City, controlling the game and making passes across the back line, most of us fell asleep cos we made 4 or 5 of them, and then aimlessly lobbed it up top to nobody and lose possession anyway. That's why oakwell was like a morgue
Why bother then?! Let's just petition the owners to fold the club and build houses on it. Jeez, the atmosphere has been shocking because the football served up has been shocking. A change has been made, the very least the fanbase can do is offer their vocal support on Saturday. We can't just keep moaning at every single decision the board takes. For all any of us know, this could be the springboard to us getting promoted, let's just wait and see eh?
Oakwell has been like a morgue for years now. Including last season until board pleaded for a scarf day, after that it improved. I dont think we will have a better chance on Saturday, though I had us down for a win anyway so hopefully it still happens. But its not right putting Oakwells rubbish atmosphere down to Collins bud. I can certainly agree his style hasn't helped it but as I say, it's been on the decline year on year
Ok I was just commenting on this season. I agree it's been a steady decline atmosphere wise for a more than this year. But I guess that's the larger picture. Knowing we'd get to the end of the season and another rebuild. Repeat every year. Most likely the reason.
What are you on about? Atmosphere at oakwell has been rubbish for years. I hope there's an improvement now. Not sure why you've completely disregarded my comment lol, you said it should be better because better atmosphere. I said even when we were unbeaten the atmosphere was crap, and now let's just to folding the club? Eh? What a ridiculous comment. I certainly hope it is a springboard now. Nothing else we can do but support the lads and hope the board make a sound decision in appointing the new manager
I would argue that even when we were winning games, the standard of our football was still very poor, hence the poor atmosphere. We could win every game, but if every game finished 1-0 and it was a mixture of fortunately awarded penalties or OG's - people would rightly moan. Another analogy would be a boxer who'd never lost a fight, knocked every opponent out and had a record of 100-0-0, but their fights only lasted 15 seconds, it would be boring. We go to be entertained, and Collins' team and tactics, along with many other previous managers' teams and tactics, have been bloody boring. We need to play positive, free-flowing attacking football with an aggressive press out of possession - then the atmosphere would come as there'd be something happening all the time.
I wasn't making any point about losing a dressing room, more that in October the majority of the division is a few points off the play off places. Also, that table is from 13th October, he was sacked on the 18th https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-one/18-october-2023/
Agree with most of that except for the boxing analogy, it wasn't boring watching 'Iron' Mike Tyson in his early days!
How so? I wanted Collins gone. i also appreciate he's a bloke and he'll have feelings. He also tried his best and I have no ill feeling towards him whatsoever.
