Cosgrove hasn't ever been that prolific at this level he got 8 on loan last season at Plymouth who finished top. His best spell came at Aberdeen in the spl. Only my opinion but I don't think leadership in losing Norwood has cost us that much. We've scored more goals, come from behind to win which we struggled with last season. Its losing the 3 center backs and inadequate replacements and poor management that has cost us.
Leadership on and off the pitch has been The Issue. As for Cosgrove 17 starts 12 goals in all comps Played a pivotal role as a ‘change’ option / target man. Based on those stats you’d sign him and also his performances in L1 last year. If he had a similar return for us no one would be complaining.
Both never kicked a ball in anger above league 1 and both on different career trajectories. This year is McAtee’s best season so far in his career and will probably be playing championship football next year if the rumours are true. Norwood has 17 goals in the National league for a mid table team. I’d say Cosgrove is the direct replacement. You could argue we actually paid money for him and the return is currently minimal. I’d suggest he will come good eventually and as McAtee, although a bit older, he’s on a different trajectory than Norwood.
For what they did in a BFC shirt, Norwood is my favourite of the 2. If I had to choose one to have for next season, it'd have to be McAtee though.
Apart from owt else where are everyone getting that Norwood got 12 goals for us last season from? It was 11 wasn't it?
the division is way crapper this year that's why, plymouth ipswich and wednesday were all better than pompey are this year imo, next year will be much stronger, wrexham and stockport will be competitive
