Playing their reserve team against Cheltenham
Pretty unfair that on the teams scrapping for survival

Bolton may well catch Derby’s goal difference up next week!

Looking increasingly likely we will play Peterborough if we make the play offs

They're probably making sure they've still got a derby next season in league one.

I can only see a scenario where we play Peterborough. Any other scenario we won’t be in the playoffs

Shame for the teams in the relegation battle, but Peterbrough's only priority now is the play-offs. Totally understand why they would wrap their players up in cotton wool til then.

Looks like Posh are desperate to play us.

We owe them for their pathetic capitulation against the Fowls.

Entitled to play any players they want in their squad. I would hope we'd be doing the same giving players a couple of weeks rest before the play offs.

Thought a rule was brought in to stop this or does it just apply to PL or was it abolished?

Are they doing anything wrong though, regarding playing a so called weaker team.
In fact, have we done this before as well, I'm sure we have.

We once stopped playing at Huddersfield cos we were both safe from relegation, which is worse in my opinion. The reserves are hoping to force their way into the play off squad.

We played our first team against pretty much most teams at the bottom. Didn’t make a difference.

Stop what? The guys playing have been in the squad all season. It's not like they have given lads from their under 18s squad numbers in their 70s.

Outrageous decision for numerous reasons. Be them against us then.

I think we did this on the last day at Portsmouth, in season '00, under Nigel Spanker.

Well for a start the OP said it was a reserve side.
Here’s an example of the rule I was asking about
    https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/new-efl-rules-set-avoid-14326394

I don’t know if it is still in effect or not

They picked a team from their first team squad that have had squad numbers all season. I don't think they have given a load of young lads their debuts and squad numbers tonight for the first time. I will give you an example.

If we were in the same position and tonight played Killip, Watters and Marsh that would be OK. But if we had given a bunch of new squad numbers to the lads who played Millwall earlier today that's different.

Again that’s not what the OP said he said reserves that’s not first team squad and again I was asking is the rule still in place or had it been stopped.
if you read the article it clearly states you have to have a certain number of players from the previous game playing.
Edit: just realised I replied to the wrong post of yours, I meant to reply to the one that said stop what.

That's the team tonight. You give players squad numbers in the summer and they are then part of your first team squad. There should be no issue with their team tonight. As I said it would be different if a bunch of kids were all making their debut tonight that haven't been mentioned on the back of the matchday programme all season.
