EAST STAND SOLD OUT FOR SATURDAY! Ticket News We're set for a sellout Reds crowd for this weekend's clash with the Cobblers... Continue reading on the official site...
Not many left in West now either, this wouldn’t have happened before Monday’s decision I’m still surprised. Don’t think at this stage splitting the North will be an option.
Disappointing decision. We've obviously got more money than we think to be able to turn people away. Plenty of fans won't go if they have to sit in the west stand. If we opened the North stand to sell tickets for a few days and allow pay on the gate there, we'd add loads to the attendance. Lots of people will want to decide on the morning if they want to go. They might not know yet if they can make it, but will go if they can.
They could make North pay-on-the-day Am sure a couple of rows of netting will be enough to guarantee our safety from 1k apathetic Cobblers!
Spot on. It's a good view in there. It would be extra motivation for the players having home fans in all four sides of the stadium. Well it should be but last weekend a 2k sell out, seaside trip, fancy dress fans, warm weather etc couldn't motivate the players.
Ah right no mither I thought as you’d replied to my comment about Mondays decision (sacking the halfwit) that you thought it was a disappointing decision.
No chance of us opening the North Stand at this stage the Safety committee wouldn't allow it. No real reason why it couldnt be done though Pompey did it for the championship winning victory against us. Doubt we can even open any extra blocks in the West so I predict a sellout with around 5500 empty seats
Good of you to offer to cover the increased policing and stewarding costs of opening a new stand when there are seats available in an already Policed stand. ;-)
Didn't stop em when the east stand got closed, cos of loose cladding. The entrances worked well enough. Plenty of room to keep fans apart. We've lost 5.1k+ in the north. And 2.5k + in the west. So nearer 8k empty I reckon. 14k home fans max .
I don’t think the issue is logistics. The club have demonstrated they can accommodate home fans in that stand at short notice when the East Stand was closed. It’s probably more to do with the additional costs for policing/stewards/catering etc.
If this doesn't tell the club and indeed Steve Houghton that the west stand isnt fit for purpose and holding the club back then I don't know what does. Ponty end sold out East stand sold out West stand: 50% closed due to no basic facilities. Of the remaining seats 20% are still unsold. The stand holds 4500 people but due to a variety of reasons at the moment it will have less than 1800 bums on seats despite the rest of the ground being sold out.
