The club needs to open a few thousand seats to home fans for this game. Create an atmosphere with the great acoustics this offers. Get behind them from 10 mins before k.o right till the last kick.
It shouldn’t be but my guess is it’s too late logistically, I’d imagine if they went through whatever safety advisory group hoops they had to jump through, it would be a nightmare people wanting to swap seats. they 100% should get this in place for the play offs but that said I’d guess Bolton and Peterborough would bring large numbers, if we restricted them like last season there is no reason it shouldn’t be opened half and half ( with the segregation tape in place).
I'm not sure it would be. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we close the East Stand the day before the Portsmouth game last season, and manage to safely segregate the North Stand etc. I guess the difference there was that we had a rough idea on how many would be in the North Stand, and we're able to move any staff across from the East. But I reckon it could be done, if there was demand for it.
Did we sell the blocks far end East lower? Why does the odd seat keep coming available in the East & Ponty, are ST holders who know they are attending notifying the club so they can re-sell them?
We rarely sell out the available West Stand - so I can’t see why we need to open up the North - we didn’t for the playoffs last year, and they were even bigger games against bigger opposition.
We don’t sell out full stop regardless of what waffle the club post. Until all seats are taken then it’s not a sell out closing half the ground and declaring it a sell out is just a farce
That's because nobody other than a select few who already have season tickets there want to sit in the west stand. People people refusing to sit in a crumbling relic isn't a good thing with regards to our capacity, it's a bad thing.
I’ve sat there for years - it is what it is. If that stand stops you watching important/big games, then that says more about the fan than the stand……
wind ya neck in YT anyone would think you’re in the clubs payroll…. My comment was in reference to someone talking about selling out stands not this particular game, The club have posted numerous times a sell out and last time I looked Oakwell holds 23k not 15/18k dependant on what’s open so until we sell 23k its not a sell out I think you’re the Tory being so instantly offended and defensive
Despite your assertion that people people (must be lots of them ) refuse to sit there, being a crumbling relic myself, I kind of fit in, so i sit there!!
If all of the available home seats are sold, then it’s a sell out (there’s no more tickets left). The 23k overall capacity is irrelevant as the North Stand is for away fans so I’m assuming on Saturday that will have c5000 empty seats. So that takes it to around 18k capacity. Half the west stand is condemned for home fans so that’s probably c2000 off the 23k total. So for the game to be classified as a sell out the crowd needs be around 16000. The 7000 seats that can’t be used are completely irrelevant as they can’t be sold to Barnsley fans.
See Sheff Weds have managed to rush through 1250 additional tickets approved by the safety advisory group for the bottom tier of the Leppings lane. You'd hope in the future with the 30 year lease of the ground secured we could make the improvements needed to make the stadium fit for purpose, I do wonder sometimes with the North stand if it purely just comes down to additional policing and stewarding costs rather than anything else.
