PLEASE STAY OFF THE PITCH ON SATURDAY Fixture News The end of the regular season is upon us, as we play out game 46 of the 23/24 Sky Bet League One campaign at Oakwell tomorrow lunchtime against Northampton Town. Continue reading on the official site...
Never had a football banning order, but the statement about handing in your passport if England are playing away is a right load of crap. Wonder who came up with that to try and scaremonger. Still wont run on the pitch because I'm not 12.
Unfortunately as everyone saw our players assaulted at Portsmouth during their invasion and zero efl action followed, our own morons will believe there's no deterrent to the annual event of "running on some grass I'm not allowed to".
Anyone who goes on the pitch when the club asks time and again for fans not to is just selfish. It spoils the occasion for everyone. If you’re an adult - shame on you. If you’re an adult with a kid on the pitch - seriously? Sadly, we all know what will happen.
Not condoning it, but if it happens and the club get’s penalised by the EFL/FA, then the club should be asking, why just us?
As much as I'll be happy if we win tomorrow and aside from the fact it's illegal, a pitch invasion for limping into the play offs would be incredibly tinpot, and downright nonsensical if we finish below 6th. I'm sure the selfish braindead idiots in the "its just a bit of fun" crew will ignore the club they supposedly support again though.
Happens at 90% of grounds every year, nothing ever happens about it. If we do win, I'd just hope our loons remember we've still got another game to play in a few days so it'd be a good idea not to trash the pitch.
Type 'pitch invasion club fined' into Google and take your pick. Oldham, Carlisle, Port Vale, Man City, Reading, Wednesday, Huddersfield. All recent examples of clubs being fined.
They are all invasions mid season for protests or other random events. If the efl fined everyone at the end if the season for last match invasions.....well.....it'd be just that, they'd have to fine everyone. And they don't. Now, it shouldn't need the threat of a fine for grown adults not to act like an 8 year old but, everyone knows the tannoy threats are hollow.
Hollow words as we never hear of punishment to fans. If the article had added a "roll of shame" naming and picturing everyone who's been banned from Oakwell for going on the pitch, it would have a far bigger affect. People who want to go on the pitch won't care about the club paying a fine because it's not coming out of their own pocket. Blackpool showed you can stay off the pitch last weekend, but our morons will go on there tomorrow no question about it. It happens every season and we never hear of fans being banned from Oakwell for it, so it just continues. What's extra annoying is our PLAYERS get involved in it. Passing their shirts to fans or signing autographs or allowing a selfie. Any fan who approaches a player on the playing surface should be shunned not encouraged by players.
Whether you think it's 'just a bit of fun' or not is immaterial. If someone has specifically asked you not to do something and explained the potential repercussions if you do, just don't fu¢king do it. Personally I'd like to see those that go on given banning orders from Oakwell, and the ones who drag their kids on get even harsher punishments. Not because they've committed heinous crimes, but because they're seemingly too pig-ignorant to comply with a simple instruction, or think it just doesn't apply to them. Cuπts
I didn't mind the one where we've just reached the play off final last season that's fair enough. But no tomorrow.
