In 1997 the majority (yes the majority) of fans who didn`t go on the pitch were denied the opportunity to celebrate the promotion on the day with the team because of the ones who broke the rules.
Nearly all of them actually relate to final game or play-off/title deciders. I could have chucked Forest in there, Everton and Bristol Rovers too. Fines for all clubs I've referred to range from £15,000 to £260,000. Just not worth it, is it? Likelihood is, should Barnsley win on Saturday, there'll be another game on Oakwell a week later. So not good for the turf either. Don't really think it's even a topic to debate.
All kinds of reasons why people shouldn’t do it tomorrow, none of which is really relevant as far as the young uns go, cos young uns just do stuff they’re not meant to. No amount of announcements are gonna change that. The bit I don’t get is the grown adults doing it. Weirder still, the fully grown adults taking their kids on. Even so, things like automatic promotion are fair game to me. Absolutely no issue for me with the Pompey game. You shouldn’t stop mass celebration, based on the actions of one absolute bellend. I’m saying this on the 27th anniversary of our promotion. Everybody was on the pitch that day. Me included. And I would be if it happened again.
What If we know this every year whitey, what preventative steps have we taken this year? It's OK putting a communication out but we both know it's futile, people just ignore things, happens every year, I'm not condoning it BTW just think if we were that concerned based on past events we'd have taken preventative steps e.g meshing/ additional stewarding
Let's be honest here. If you are ab adult who does it you're a c un t. If you're an adult who sends your kid on you're a **** parent. And if you're an adult who takes your kid on the you've got ******* issues.
As whitey says, clubs do get fined for it. £50k fine for forest for their fans going on after the final whistle at the end of the season £260k fine for man city for pitch invasion at final whistle to celebrate winning the league £50k fine for Sheffield Wednesday for pitch invasion following the Peterborough play off game last season. £5k fine for Carlisle for going on the pitch to celebrate their play off victory £300k fine Everton because fans went on the pitch to celebrate premier league survival £70k fine for Huddersfield for pitch invasion celebrating playoff victory £35k fine for Luton due to fans invading the pitch to celebrate playoff semi final victory That's £770,000 in fines for fans going on the pitch to celebrate success
Lot of money that is. Be nice if the money was reinvested into grassroots football..... Wont be though.
Can't post link but two sets of human ashes scattered on Fratton Park during that pitch invasion. Incredible.
Thanks for that, but I wonder why the vast differences in some of the amounts? Nothing about Millwall invading the pitch at Wembley in ‘celebration’ then
