Poor that. I did think the effort was there from the starting 11, but we were so wasteful on the ball. Gave it away constantly. Shortage of confidence and quality. Poor goal to concede too - that back line did look odd for the free kick. Bolton will probably beat us, but tbh even if we go up I don’t see how this squad could be shaped into a Championship team over the summer.
Well you can look at it two ways, we're due one, or we'll keep losing. If I were a Bolton fan that stat would make me nervous.
Very, very hard to take any positives from this team. A mauling on Sky beckons. It was another poor performance, with absolutely nothing to suggest that Disco has any remit whatsoever to hold caretaker charge, we were towing like f**k for the majority of the second half.
Is it just me or does anyone else have that ‘damage limitation’ thought rather than that eyeing up Wembley feeling? at least all 4 playoff teams have momentum. Just that ours is in the wrong direction.
Well it was different to Collins style least we looked to attack at times. What was Roberts doing for the goal.
Bolton, as 3rd best team in this league, are rightly 3rd in the table, they'll be in the Championship next season.
It will do well to be shaped into a League one team let alone a Championship team, the amateurs in charge really have torn the team/club apart. These guys are making Conway and Chien look competent.
Unless we get someone in to coach some shape and tactics into them. We've got players that are every bit as good as Bolton's.
That was never going to be a classic, just lost the manager and no ‘proper’ replacement in place. So kind of a different approach but with a bit of some ‘same as’’ which cost us in the end. We still looked short of confidence at both ends of the pitch , but I thought the increased tempo suited us and we did defend a bit better. Cole I just don’t see as being worth a place in the starting line up these days, yes he’s top scorer but those days are well gone, he only seems to score in clusters of games when his confidence is up and when he’s not scoring his contribution is minimal and I’ve never seen a top scorer be in the wrong place so many times. Cosgrove what can you say? At nearly seventy with arthritis I could give him a race! Fair enough Mcatee should have broken the net, but his work rate and effort are second to none. And when will we learn that trying to defend a lead nearly always costs us!
