We keep hearing about Duff' Stendel' hecky etc' but lets not forget they've worked for our club before and will know exactly what goes on behind the scenes and may well think " not on your nelly"..
True. Unfortunately the only way that could possibly happen is mid table finishes so that nobody poaches him and yet our board keep patience. Unfortunately the mindset of many of our fans is that we should, by right, be a mid table Championship club and would be baying for the blood of any manager who couldn't achieve it. As indeed they just have.
I have absolutely no issue whatsoever with managers leaving. It’s manager lying about leaving that I have the problem with. Bottom line is I just don’t trust him, and I couldn’t get behind someone I don’t trust.
Depends on how deep the pockets of those in the Boardroom are Helen. Much as I'd want us to go up I'd wouldn't enjoy the sort of results our South Yorkshire neighbours, Rotherham United, have enjoyed this season. Much rather, Ipswich like, we'd built in League One and used that as a springboard to success in the Championship.
Im not sure whether youre right or wrong with any of this but if the new coach does come in for the play offs and loses anyone wanting his head before the start of next season would be crackers. It will be a miracle to get this current squad in a good tactical and mental place to beat Bolton, never mind winning at Wembley should they somehow manage it
It would be so like Barnsley thing to appoint someone for 3 games, get promoted and then not appoint them next season.
9 out of 10 managers would leave if there was an opportunity of higher a wage/higher division. What is said in interviews etc is just generic media talk, I don't see how anyone can take it seriously or hang on every word. The club either matches the ambitions of the manager or it doesn't, if it can't then it's a question of moving on no hard feelings.
It'll end up where the board go ahead and install someone that suits them, not the Club, team or fan base and it'll all come crashing down, cos its cheap and not thought through, The thing is whoever comes in an does a good job, they'll foook off as soon as a carrot's dangled, its Football.
Come the hour, come the man. Watters to make a late appearance as a sub in the second leg and score a 10 minute perfect hat-trick to put us in the final. Although that might be a sleep-deprived hallucination...
Even if we got Alexandra Daddario on our staff someone wouldn't be happy. No appointment is going to please everyone.
Can’t imagine Thalhammer will be cheaper than Williamson, even taking into account compensation. Williamson came from Gateshead and is currently in his first job in the football league. Can’t imagine it would cost a fortune to buy out his contract, would expect it to only be a 2 year one anyway.
My preferred order of best choice of coach would be 1) Duff; 2) Williamson; 3) Wellens and 176) Thalhammer. I don't think that Duff would come back, but he would be best choice, as he knows a lot of the squad and could probably persuade them to sign new contracts (those who are out). Williamson looks to be the new Duff and is the most realistic choice, but he will want to see MKD through the play offs and might be offered a new contract there if they are promoted. Only available possibly to us after the play offs are concluded. Wellens would be an effective manager, but might not fit what the board see as the type of coach they seek. This all makes Williamson the most likely choice, but that only presuming that MKD don't get promoted. He has done well with both Gateshead and MKD. Upwardly mobile still. Get him while he is still ambitious and hungry for further success at a higher level.
My order as well I think. I think Williamson would buy into a project for sure. Wellens wouldn’t take us forward.
