AIDEN MARSH NAMED 23/24 YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON Club News Homegrown forward picks up the honours after another campaign of progression at Oakwell. Continue reading on the official site...
What did he do to win it ? He was on loan front end of season and the cup debacle not his fault but maybe he should have known to. He’s had about 29 mins with the first team and not influenced anything must be ripping it up in U23’s?
Maybe the vote was open to York City fans? No hard feelings towards Marsh but I am absolutely gobsmacked at this.
Made a few good appearances at the start of the season. From the way he’s talking it sounds like he’ll still be here next season, which is good news!
Front end of season he was coming on as sub and setting up goals so club rewarded him for this by sending him out on loan. Crackers
Surprised at this but well done Aiden. Curious as to what qualifies as “young”. I think the PFA awards class young as 23 and under so that would include a decent chunk of our first team squad.
Can’t understand why anyone’s surprised. It’s basically him or Jalo isn’t it & I think over the course of the season Marsh has done a bit more. I don’t think there’s any obvious candidates who have missed out.
How has Marsh done abit more? He had a failed loan spell, failed to break into the 1st team. And looks to be behind jalo in the pecking order who is 2 years younger than him.
Without going back & looking at any stats it felt to me like Marsh got a couple of goals & assists early on in the season when Jalo was out injured & not featuring. Don’t get me wrong there’s no stand out candidate. It’s probably a coin toss either way. I’m just surprised some are surprised when there’s no young player that’s featured much.
Marsh hasnt scored in the league this season but he got a assist. He had a bit of a failed loan at York ok he's scored a few in the u21s but jalo was doing that 2 years ago. Jalos the one who seems to be closer to breaking into the 1st team 11. Guess you could look at kyran Lofthouse who's had a good season out on loan but he's maybe 22? Like said we'll done aiden. Hopefully next season he can kick on and establish himself.
According to the BBC Jalo scored 2, assisted once and returned 175 minutes per goal. Match scored once, assisted twice and returned 194 minutes per goal. Not a lot between them statistically. Not sure who else would have been eligible, it's not been a great season for youth input. I like Aiden, he was in the year below my son at school. I'm happy he's won but I'm hoping that some of the youth players get better opportunities to kick on next season.
